The New England Patriots tight end put on a show, belting 12 homers over two rounds in a celebrity home run derby during Triple-A All Star weekend at the Buffalo Bisons’ Coca-Cola Stadium.
The nearby Williamsville native swung to a mixed reaction of cheers and boos from the Buffalo fans, but that did not keep him from running away with the competition. His opponents included local stars such as Bills running back Fred Jackson, Bills Hall-of-Famers Jim Kelly and Joe DeLamielleure, former Bills general manager Bill Polian, Nick Bakay—an actor more famous for his voice than his face—and Bills CEO Russ Brandon, who finished second behind Gronkowski.
“It was a little nerve-wracking going out there,” Gronkowski said, according to metrowny.com. “My heart was beating fast, it kind of felt like playing a football game.”
