Almost exactly one year ago, Rob Ryan drew criticism for his remarks about Tim Tebow and the (former) Broncos offense.

True to his character, Dallas' defensive boss turned his attention to this year's sensational signal-caller.

In advance of the Thanksgiving day tilt between the Redskins and Cowboys, Ryan said he doesn't like Robert Griffin III, but also admitted he's a "special" talent and needs to be accounted for.

“He is a special player,” Ryan said, via the Dallas Morning News. "That’s why they traded half a team to get him. Obviously, he’s a tremendous athlete and they say he is a hell of a kid. I don’t like him, but I know he is very talented. This game looks like it’s in slow-motion for him already and hopefully we speed it up a whole lot this week.”

Many teams have tried -- and subsequently failed -- to slow down RG3. Last week, he had a coming out party against Big D's division rivals in Philadelphia, tossing four touchdowns in a rout of the hapless Eagles.

Blitzing Griffin rarely yields positive results; quite the opposite, in fact. He's the NFL's top-rated passer when under duress, throwing for 442 yards, six touchdowns and, most importantly, no interceptions.

Nevertheless, Ryan -- he of his father's mold -- lives and dies by the blitz. His unit, currently ranked sixth against the pass, will hope to rattle the reigning Heisman trophy winner and spoil his Turkey Day.

“It’s hard to blitz a guy when you got to keep your option responsibility,” Ryan said. “When you start going off on it like that, it’s a great thing to do when it’s pass and when they don’t block it. But you have to be smart. You have got to pick your spots or those go for 76 yards like they did against Minnesota. We don’t like to play that way. We like to limit the big plays, get after them. The big thing is we have to hit these guys hard. That’s the big thing. We have big football players out there on defense and we plan on hitting them hard. And that’s what is going to happen.

“Hopefully he will have a bad Thanksgiving.”
