Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III told the Washington Post that he can see himself not playing during the preseason and still being able to play in their season opener.
“I’ve thought about that and yeah, I would be comfortable with that,” Griffin said. “That’s all I can say. I have no control over whether I play in the preseason or not. I would be comfortable running out of the tunnel at FedEx Field with the smoke and everything.”
Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan says Griffin will need to at least practice before playing in a game.
“You’d have to practice … not necessarily against an opponent. … He’d have to work with the first-team offense and he’d have to have some practice time,” Shanahan said Thursday.
If Griffin misses the entire preseason, I can see him still playing week one as long as he practices. But if that does happen, he’ll still show some plenty of rust.
