Washington Redskins draft backup QB in 4th round

The Washington Redskins wasted no time finding a backup quarterback for Robert Griffin. The Redskins selected Kirk Cousins in the 4th round, and will likely allow him to compete with Rex Grossman for the backup role. Despite some overdramatic reactions around the league, there will never be a competition between Griffin and Cousins. No matter where Cousins was drafted, he was going...

Meriweather Gets Arrested, Great New Impression With Redskins

Newly signed Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather was arrested and charged with driving under the influence yesterday according to sources. Meriweather signed a two-year, $6 million deal with the Redskins this offseason. As a first round draft pick by the New England Patriots in 2007, Meriweather was a two-time pro-bowler before he was released and signed by Chicago...

Redskins select Robert Griffin III, Grade A+

The Washington Redskins would have loved to get Luck, but Robert Griffin is a very nice consolation prize. He fits perfectly into the Shanahan offense and already has a few decent weapons to work with. This is exactly the pick Mike Shanahan needed to turn things around in Washington, and despite the lack of picks in upcoming drafts, I have no doubt that Daniel Snyder will make sure...

2012 NFL Draft: Redskins Select Robert Griffin III

The Washington Redskins have made their big splash to get themselves out of the NFC East basement.  Coach Shanahan has got his guy who he will fully expect to start game 1 this season. Can RGIII meet all of the hype and come in and perform like Cam Newton did this year for Carolina.  I believe he can.  He seems to have all the tools that a stud QB needs. Season Passing   Rushing...

Fan’s Redskins jersey chronicles years of QB failure topped with a glimmer of hope

Here’s hoping RG3 lives up to the hype, just so this guy never wears this Skins jersey out in public again. The quarterback situation hasn’t been much to speak of the last 9 years or so, and if you don’t believe me, just read that list of names on buddy’s jersey there. From Patrick Ramsay to Rex Grossman and every retread in between, Washington QBs have been downright depressing...

Redskins confident RG3 can end QB turnstile

ASHBURN, Va. -- How excited was Robert Griffin III to officially become a Redskin on Thursday night? So excited that not only did the second overall pick wear burgundy and gold striped socks to the draft in New York, but he opened his conference calls with Washington's media by singing, "Hail To The Redskins." Said the 22-year-old Griffin, "That's how I felt...

Redskins draft Michigan State QB Kirk Cousins

After Washington made a blockbuster trade to select Robert Griffin III second overall, the Redskins have drafted Michigan State quarterback Kirk Cousins in the fourth round. The talented Cousins won 27 games as a three-year starter and with the pick coach Mike Shanahan may have created the kind of quarterback controversy that has often enveloped the Redskins Cousins said on a conference...

Washington Selects RG3

In a pick that was as surprising as the previous one, the Washington Redskins select Robert Griffin III of Baylor with the second pick. Washington traded with the Rams for this pick weeks ago with the knowledge RG3 was their guy. The expectations will be high after Cam Newton had a successful rookie season.

With the 2nd pick of the 2012 draft

Robert Griffin III (RG3) is your number two overall pick of the 2012 draft.  The Washington Redskins decided this is the direction they wanted to go in.  The right choice?  Probably not, then again they have seen 21 QBs in 19 years, so it can’t get much worst.  I am just not a fan of an run first throw second kind of QB.  There is a reason that Michael Vick, Randall Cunningham...
