It remains to be seen whether Robert Griffin III will one day be immortalized in Canton, but he's already gotten his foot through the door.

Literally.

NFL.com reports that Griffin's jersey and cleats from Monday night's win over the Giants will be displayed in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

In the 17-16 victory, which put Washington (6-6) just one game out of first place, RG3 ran five times for 72 yards. He's now accumulated 714 yards on the ground this season, setting the NFL single-season record -- previously held by Cam Newton (706) -- for yards rushing by a quarterback.

The announcement was made during Griffin's news conference Wednesday, when a representative of the Hall toted a plastic bag with Griffin's now-historic garb. True to his nature, the soft-spoken signal-caller didn't exactly boast about the feat.

"Any positive record that you break holds meaning to you," Griffin said. "I think I was more happy when Alfred (Morris) broke the 1,000-yard rushing mark."

Having heard of the accolades, nicknames, selfless gestures for the community and, of course, his natural talents and successes, this is just another notch in the belt of Griffin, one of many, many more to come from the 22-year-old.
