It seems every season the Falcons are looked at as legitimate Super Bowl contenders, but always come up short of the big game.

Roddy White says no more.

During an appearance on ESPN's "First Take" Wednesday, the outspoken receiver stated that 2013 will be regarded as "Super Bowl or bust" for the team.

"We're ready to take that next step," White said. "We know how good our football team is and the players we got, so it's either Super Bowl or nothing for us right now. Nothing else. Anything short of that is not a good season for us right now."

White, who's spent nine seasons in Atlanta, admitted that the club was always just "satisfied" with reaching the postseason, and nothing more.

"I think that the first three [playoff appearances under coach Mike Smith] we were getting there and were just having fun being there. And then we turned a curb, and we said we have to stop just getting there and we have to win games," White said.

That mentality changed last season, when the Falcons came within a half of reaching the Super Bowl, only to lose to the 49ers in a wild NFC Championship Game.

It still gnaws at White.

"I feel like were a better football than the San Francisco 49ers," he said, adding that turnovers were the reason the Falcons fell in the NFC Championship Game.

Be that as it may, it's high time for the Falcons to back up the hype.

They certainly have the firepower to make it happen, with Matt Ryan morphing into a top-shelf quarterback, the tandem of White and Julio Jones forming arguably the league's best receiving duo, and the addition of veteran running back Steven Jackson. Oh, and they also some guy named Tony Gonzalez returning for one final hurrah.

The season is still a ways away, but the team's newfound mantra will be put to the test. It'll be up to White and Co. to prove the prognosticators right.
