Ben Roethlisberger had yet to meet with Todd Haley but had some interesting things to say in an interview with the Post Gazette’s Ed Bouchette on Thursday. Ben said he’s received numerous calls and texts from colleagues around the NFL about their thoughts on Haley. “Everybody has an opinion, as we all know, and they’re letting me know what their interaction with him was — good, bad and indifferent. I’ve heard a lot of things and I’m looking forward to meeting him and forming my own opinion.” Big Ben spoke again about how he was shocked that Bruce Arians was not retained but admits Coach Tomlin has kept him in the loop with progress on candidates. How much “in the loop” means is up for debate but he also said he had no input on the decision. Tomlin specified as much in his season ending presser when he was asked that very question, and his response was “none. Many fans debate whether or not Ben should have any input at ...

Tweak, not overhaul Roethlisberger & the Steelers offense
When you think of Ben Roethlisberger what’s the first thing that comes to mind? The Steelers starting Quarterback of course, but a close second is the inevitable “he holds onto the ball”. The latter is one of the things that Art Rooney II would probably like to change when he made the comments a couple weeks ago about Ben needing to tweak his game a little bit....
Can Todd Haley and Big Ben co-exist?
So far in this new off-season the Pittsburgh Steelers have seen a lot of action occurring in the coaching department. Former offensive coordinator Bruce Arians first “retired,” in reality the front office didn’t renew his contract due to his pass happy offensive scheme, and now has the same role with the Indianapolis Colts under first year head coach Chuck Pagano. Furthermore...
Big Ben vs. Eli: Who Has Your Vote?
By Jeremy Hritz
Prior to the 2011 season, there was no doubt of who was the premier quarterback from the 2004 NFL Draft. Ben Roethlisberger, selected 11th overall by the Pittsburgh Steelers, sported a resume jeweled by three Super Bowl appearances, two Super Bowl victories, and an aptitude for last minute victories. The success he had experienced in his short career carried more...
Hire of Todd Haley Will Change Steelers Offense for the Better
The hire of Todd Haley to replace Bruce Arians as offensive coordinator is surely a sign that changes are coming to Pittsburgh.
Haley, who was the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs for the past two seasons, will bring a run-oriented game plan to the Steelers offense. He went 19-26 with the Chiefs. Haley was a coordinator for 10 years before being hired as a head coach. He was...
Steelers To Introduce Todd Haley As New Offensive Coordinator During Thursday Press Conference
We will finally get to hear the Pittsburgh Steelers new offensive coordinator speak and take questions from the media on Thursday as Mark Kaboly reports this morning via Twitter that the Steelers will hold a noon press conference on Thursday to officially introduce Todd Haley as offensive coordinator. The press conference figures to be the normal 15-20 minute variety and hopefully...
Could ‘good cop, bad cop’ routine work with Coaches Tomlin and Haley?
Rarely do I write outside the bounds of a strictly news-based article filled with facts, stats or interviews. However, with the addition of Todd Haley as the new offensive coordinator for the Steelers, a lot of talk has been spreading around the sports world as to whether Haley was the best choice for that position or not. The truth is, that remains to be seen.
John Mehno of ...
Roethlisberger: I've heard 'both good and bad about (Haley)'
Now that Todd Haley officially has been introduced as the Steelers' new offensive coordinator, quaterback Ben Roethlisberger has a few questions about the direction of the team's offense.
Haley: Steelers scheme will be built to succeed, score
Todd Haley wasted little time assuring everyone that the Steelers offense he will run will do whatever is necessary to win. If that means throwing the ball like he did when he was the offensive coordinator with the Arizona Cardinals, fine. If that means running the ball like he did in 2 1/2 seasons as coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, that's fine, too.
Steelers formally introduce Todd Haley at press conference
Today was the day, the one that the Steeler Nation has been waiting for, just what would Todd Haley say in his first formal press conference? How would Mike Tomlin introduce his new coordinator? How many times would Haley be asked about working with Ben Roethlisberger or asked to speak about his emotional coaching style? All those questions were answered as Haley took the stand after...
Steelers Introduce Todd Haley
The Steelers held a press conference today to introduce Todd Haley. Coach Tomlin spoke first and said “Needless to say, we’re extremely excited.” Even after all the rumors about Tomlin not wanting to hire Haley and it being the Rooney’s decision he seemed like he bought in more and more the longer he spent with Haley. So even if he was not all for it in the...
Why Did Art Rooney Hire Todd Haley?
Notice that the title of this article is not "Why did Mike Tomlin hire Todd Haley." Tomlin didn't. If this were Tomlin's decision, Bruce Arians would still be in town. No, this decision appears to have been made by Art Rooney II.Rooney has stated multiple times that he wants the Steelers to run the ball more. Bruce Arians probably cocked his head to the side, said...
Eli vs. Peyton? Eli or classmate Big Ben is an even better question
Super Bowl MVPs and titles stoke Eli and Peyton Manning debates. But Clark Judge says the standout Giants quarterback is an even more intriguing comparison with 2004 draft classmate Ben Roethlisberger.
Steelers Should Embrace New Mentality
When the Pittsburgh Steelers chose not to retain offensive coordinator Bruce Arians at the end of the 2011 season, they were making a bold statement. The team had strayed too far from the classic Steeler mentality. An offense that prided itself on a hard-nosed running game and toughness for decades had become a pass-first offense. Reportedly, owner Art Rooney II had become dissatisfied...
New York Jets: Quarterback Coach Remains A Problem
When the New York Jets brought in Tony Sparano as their offensive coordinator, it was a more than a welcome change from Brian Schottenheimer. However, the original perception was that Sparano would be coupled with an offensive coach to oversee the passing game and quarterback position.
The first name being thrown around was Todd Haley…didn’t happen. He is now the offensive...
