There is a dirty joke somewhere in these comments from Roger Goodell, but I will leave those alone. Here is what he had to say.
“We want to take the head out of the game,” Goodell said upon receiving the award, via NFL spokesman Greg Aiello’s Twitter page. “The helmet is for protection. It is not a weapon.”
I don’t like headhunters in the NFL. I think they should be fined and suspended, but the nature and speed of the game, sometimes makes helmet to helmet shots unavoidable.
For instance, you are a DB or LB in coverage, the QB is trying to squeeze the ball into a tight window to his WR. From the "one way to end your career" file comes the latest buffoonery from Steelers nose tackle Alameda Ta'amu.

You won’t hear too many NFL players giving NFL commissioner Roger Goodell their ringing endorsement. In fact, even former players have criticized Roger Goodell with the new rule changes to improve safety. It has been a challenging past few years for the man who runs the NFL. But...
Arizona Cardinals cornerback Patrick Peterson was a guest on ESPN 1100 in Las Vegas with Mitch Moss and Seat Williams and was asked about all of the rules changes that the NFL has instituted over the past few years.
“The game has definitely changed, but I believe the commissioner is changing the game for the good. At the same time, these guys want to make the game as safe as...
Every offseason, there are scores of NFL players who end up getting suspended for use of a banned substance. Last year, Richard Sherman successfully fought a 4 game suspension towards the end of the season. Now Sherman is shedding light on what may be a serious problem. Adderall is a drug typically found in … Continue reading »
Yesterday, Pittsburgh Steelers’ Head Coach Mike Tomlin was added to the National Football League’s Competition Committee by Commissioner Roger Goodell. This is a group comprised of coaches, GM’s and owners that discusses the rules of the game and when necessary, make changes to those rules.
It was this committee for example (prior to Tomlin’s appointment) that drove the new...
