The Sports Bank:
Urban Meyer may be the most polarizing college football coach in America. Winning national titles will do that to you.
Winning while having a boatload of your players getting arrested (25 at Florida, 8 at Ohio State thus far) (here’s the complete list) will do that to you even faster. Urban Meyer certainly has his detractors. But he has his vocal supporters too. Given what we heard from Rolling Stone magazine today. And given the information they plan to reveal, you might have a lot less Urban Meyer supporters and a lot more Urban Meyer detractors in this world.
At Big Ten Media Day, 12/14 questions Meyer faced from the media were about crimes, serious off-the-field issues, sanctions and that sort of thing. Again I ask you, what was wrong with the two guys who asked Urban about football topics?
Rolling Stone just dropped a teaser for its upcoming Aaron Hernandez story.
The major plot points are helpfully bullet-pointed by RS. Some of the big ones:

With more details beginning to emerge regarding the troubled past of, once Patriot star, Aaron Hernandez it seems as if we can all erase another one out of our minds. Rolling Stone’s upcoming issue will tell about a talent, who’s life was derailed by “gangster” friends, PCP usage and constant paranoia, leaving football fans with only one question,...
After Aaron Hernandez reportedly told Bill Belichick that gang members were trying to kill him, the Patriots head coach allegedly suggested he rent a "safe house."
It only seems fair that the Patriots should pay Aaron Hernandez the money they owe him whether or not he’s in jail for murder or not.
Patriots owner Robert Kraft doesn’t see things that way, per USA TODAY Sports.
The Patriots cut Hernandez after he was arrested on June 26 and before he was charged with murder later that day. He pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail...
It appears Aaron Hernandez may have been on his way out of New England regardless.
The former Patriots tight end was “one misstep from being cut” by Bill Belichick, according to Rolling Stone. The magazine’s website posted six highlights from an investigation into Hernandez’s life. Among them was that Belichick was “infuriated” with Hernandez for missing practice and...
The NFL Players Association has filed a grievance to help former New England Patriots star tight end Aaron Hernandez collect an $82,000 workout bonus.
The union says it has a responsibility to protect the rights in the collective bargaining agreement for all players. Hernandez's contract provides for him to receive that amount if he participated in the team's workouts from...
Leave it to Rolling Stone to cover the creeps of the world. Obviously not a real over, but you get the drift. You can read the Rolling Stone piece right here.-TOFans Make Pilgramage to Hernandez’ HouseMadden 25 to Life Cover
Aaron Hernandez remains behind bars at the Bristol County House of Corrections awaiting trial for the murder of Odin Lloyd. Given all the circumstantial evidence we have heard to this point, most people feel that a conviction is merely a formality. Paul Solotaroff of Rolling Stone magazine does not see it that way at all. Prosecutors pursuing a murder case against former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez have good reason to want to talk to his now-jailed cousin - according to court documents, she may have been provided a first-hand account of the killing by a man believed to have been there.
So far, Tanya Singleton has chosen a jail cell over telling a grand jury what she knows.
Former Patriot Aaron Hernandez was arrested for the murder of Odin Lloyd back in June. He was released by the Patriots about a half hour later.
The arrest was on the heels of a big contract extension the Patriots had just given the star tight end the year before. With the Patriots trying to recoup some money from the investment, the NFLPA is stepping in.

Yup that pretty much just happened. And while we don’t condone making a joke out of the Aaron Hernandez situation there has been plenty of internet fodder that has actually been quite humorous.
Thanks to Terez for the picture.
The New England Patriots are like every other team; they take their chances on young players hoping for high returns on the investment. Some years that investment pays off, such as drafting two star tight ends at the same time in Aaron Hernandez and Rob Gronkowski (too bad Hernandez shot himself in the foot).Other prospects don't work out so well, such as receiving disappointments...
Rolling Stone contributing editor Paul Solotaroff who wrote the magazine's investigative story on Aaron Hernandez with Herald columnist Ron Borges paints a rather unflattering picture of the Patriots brass.
While the most explosive details in the piece are Hernandez's use of angel dust his increasing paranoia and threats that the Patriots would cut the star tight end well...
