With the Lions acquiring Ronnie Brown, more has been written about a 4th string running back than is really deserved. I'm guilty too, but I have an excuse.
Well...actually, I don't.
But I'm going to add to the signal to noise ratio. I want to throw out a few thoughts about the trade before we all move on with our football-addled lives.
Despite what you might hear from clueless callers on sports talk radio or read in Mlive's insane forums, Brown is not going to step into the Lions' lineup and become the savior of the running game. Keep in mind these are the same people who thought the Lions should have drafted Aaron Curry over Matthew Stafford and believe Jeff Backus should be benched, even though he's their best offensive lineman. (It may be faint praise, but it's still true).
Saviors are found in the off season. They are rarely found in free agency. You want a savior, regardless of position? You find them via the draft. Saviors are not to be...
