Running back Ronnie Hillman told the Denver Post that he wants to be Broncos starting running back when the season kicks off in September.
“Come the opener, I want to be the guy back there,” Hillman said. “I can’t lie. I want it to be me and I’m pushing to be that guy.”
Even though quarterback Peyton Manning has been working closely with rookie running back Montee Ball to help him get up to speed, Hillman is optimistic he can start.
“We’re all just in there doing our thing,” Hillman said. “Everybody wants to play and I think all of us feel like we can play. I know it’s about production, that I have to produce to be in there. That’s how they’ll decide: who’s producing.”
Even though Ball is the favorite to start this season, Hillman will likely get his own share of carries.
