Juron Criner (above) was drafted out of the University of Arizona in the fifth round by the Oakland Raiders (Credit: AP Photo/Dave Martin) According to an ESPN report, the Oakland Raiders and fifth round wide receiver Juron Criner are struggling to come to terms on a new contract. So what exactly is holding up the two sides? Fourteen thousand dollars. According to a source with knowledge of the situation, the fifth-round pick has yet to sign his rookie contract with the Raiders because the two sides are squaring off over his signing bonus. Criner wants $158,000 while the team is offering $144,000. Criner is currently the only non-first round pick who is unsigned. Criner is struggling to come to terms because he wants to be paid similar to those draft picks around him. However, the problem is Criner was taken as a supplemental pick. The NFL has different rules for players taken with supplemental picks. Someone, either the Raiders or Criner, will eventually cave. It seems ridiculous that they would keep him out of camp for only $14,000. The post Rookie WR Juron Criner holding out for $14,000 appeared first on DOWN & DISTANCE.

  • I think he should hold out, show the Raiders what he's made of, and then he will be able to tell this story to all his friends that he meets as the manager of a 7/11.
