The Titans picked wide receiver Kendall Wright 20th overall in the NFL Draft and made it clear they have big plans for him this season Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports. Offensive coordinator Chris Palmer recently added more to Wright’s workload by teaching him additional receiver positions. In addition to the “X” position, the rookie is also lining up at the “F” and “Z” spots during practices. “At some point he will get overloaded, which is normal for a player. But we see the things we saw before the draft, and we want to move him around and put him in some other spots,” Palmer said. “He is a rookie and he is learning, but he is doing an excellent job. He has tremendous quickness, and he is learning the system.” The Titans say Wright arrived with no sense of entitlement, however. He’s asked questions of everyone from Washington, an eighth-year pro, to James Kirkendoll, an undrafted player who spent last season on the practice squad.

Titans' schedule may favor Hasselbeck

The Tennessee Titans already have committed to one year with Matt Hasselbeck at quarterback with Jake Locker, last years first-round pick, learning his apprenticeship under the veteran, but will it end up being two? After last season, Titans head coach Mike Munchak had promised an open competition for the starting job entering 2012. An interesting wrinkle in the story developed...

Titans’ Mike Munchak says early schedule will affect the quarterback battle

The Titans might have the most interesting offseason quarterback competition this offseason, if only because they might be the most talented team in the league with an unresolved quarterback situation. Matt Hasselbeck led them to a 9-7 record last year, but he turns 37 in September and Jake Locker was their 8th overall pick last season and played well in limited action behind Hasselbeck...

Titans’ Chris Johnson is primed for a bounce back season

Chris Johnson had his worst season as a pro last year, rushing for 1047 yards and 4 touchdowns on 262 carries. This down season was likely fueled by his holdout before the season, during which he reportedly got out of shape. However, he was better in the 2nd half of the season, carrying the ball 141 times for 681 yards and 3 touchdowns, good for 282 carries for 1362 yards and 6 touchdowns...

Titans Coach Mike Munchak Says Schedule Will Affect Who's Named The Starting QB

Titans coach Mike Munchak acknowledged that the team's difficult early schedule of games could play some part in picking a starting quarterback, John Glennon of the Tennessean reports. Matt Hasselbeck, a 14th-year pro, obviously has a huge edge in experience. Jake Locker is readying for his second season. “You always look at what’s coming up,” Munchak said. “You do that when...

Titans OC Says 25 Touches For RB Chris Johnson Is "Pushing It"

Titans running back Chris Johnson would like to touch the ball 25 times a game, 20 carries and five pass receptions. Offensive coordinator Chris Palmer isn't sure that's realistic. “To say you’re going to get a guy 25 touches a game is pushing it,” Palmer told David Climer of the Tennessean. “That’s 400 touches over the course of a season. He’s certainly capable of...

Sources Feel Titans RB Chris Johnson Has 'Rededicated' Himself This Offseason

People who know Titans running back Chris Johnson are expecting him to have a big bounce-back season because he has rededicated himself. Johnson has worked out hard this offseason and spent a lot of time around the Titans facility. Last offseason, between his contract situation and the lockout, Johnson took it easy. He wasn’t in top shape when he reported, and it showed in how he...
