It took Sage Rosenfels less than 48 hours to land another NFL roster spot. Rosenfels signed Thursday with the Miami Dolphins after passing a team physical, FOXSports.com has learned. The deal is for one year, though additional details weren't immediately available. The Dolphins were seeking a new backup quarterback after Chad Henne suffered a left shoulder injury in last Sunday's 26-16 loss at San Diego. He's expected to have surgery next week and miss the rest of the season. Enter Rosenfels, who was released from injured reserve Tuesday by the New York Giants. As first reported Wednesday by FOXSports.com, Rosenfels missed most of the preseason because of a blood infection he believes stems from strep throat. Hospitalized for part of August, Rosenfels was placed on injured reserve at the end of the preseason when New York was forced to cut its roster to 53 players. Primarily a backup in 10 NFL seasons, Rosenfels is returning to one of the five franchises where he has played. Rosenfels, 33, was with the Dolphins from 2002 to 2005 before signing with the Houston Texans. Matt Moore is expected to start in place of Henne when the Dolphins (0-4) play their next game Oct. 17 against the host New York Jets. Rosenfels was chosen over two fellow journeymen (Brodie Croyle and Trent Edwards) who had Tuesday workouts with the Dolphins. Miami also reportedly contacted Jake Delhomme and David Garrard as other quarterback possibilities.
