Position: Defensive Tackle Height / Weight: 6’5″ 335 lbs. Age: 24 / Experience: R College: Hampton 2011 Contract Status: Signed through 2014 2011 Analysis: Ellis didn’t play a ton of time in 2011, but when he did, he showed flashes of what he could become in the future.  Ellis has speed but not the strength he yet needs to hold down the Nose Tackle spot, so the team used him at times at the DE position over his more natural NT spot. 2012 Outlook: Ellis should start to see more work in the rotation as the team will plan to hand over the reins to him in a few years, but for now he’s going to only see limited time there as it’s a pretty high certainty that Sione Pouha would be back on the roster in 2012.  Look for Ellis to spell Pouha at times, but more likely see more action at the end spots while he continues to get a feel for the NFL game. Random Thought: Ellis still has his court case pending, but if the Jets were really all that concerned about it, they probably ...

New York Jets: The Disappointments, Part 2

Yesterday we looked at the New York Jets players on offense who disappointed. Today we will focus on the defense and special teams. Unfortunately these two lists combine to be much longer than the players who exceeded expectations in 2011. Bart Scott – Over his first two years with the team, Scott was praised for his ability to do the dirty work alongside David Harris at inside...

Plax Wins Sporting News Comeback Player of the Year

Congrats to Plaxico Burress who won the Sporting News Comeback Player of 2011 award. His numbers did not compare with those of his prime seasons, but Burress proved that, after missing two seasons while serving 20 months in prison following his conviction on weapons charges, he is still a capable NFL wide receiver. And for that, he is our 2011 comeback player of the year. While I...

Is Tomlinson’s Decision Already Made?

While many Jets fans expect that LT won’t be returning to the Jets in 2012, he has yet to make a formal announcement about whether or not he will play to the NFL again.  This B/R article gives a unique reason for why LaDainian won’t return to the NFL in 2012. … why would LT, who has rarely spoken ill of anyone, talk openly and repeatedly to media about the inner...

DeGuglielmo joins the Jets after spending the last three seasons as Miami’s offensive line coach (2009-11). Who are the Jets Scouting at the Senior Bowl?

It is never too early to start looking at the draft. With the Senior Bowl practice in full gear, I’ve been searching the internet to discover who the Jets are taking in interest in. According to Charlie Campbell of WalterFootball.com, the Jets really like Arizona State Wide Receiver Gerell Robinson. At 6-4, 220, Robinson is everything Jets fans have been asking for. A young...

Jets Propelled Giants to Super Bowl?

You can say that, since we haven’t lost since then.  That week was an emotional week for everyone. We started to click that week. [...] We just found that 11 guys playing as one is hard to beat.  A lot of this season, we played as individuals. But not anymore. We’ve got that confidence now that, if it’s close, we’re going to come together and pull it out.” – Giants...

ST. LOUIS -- The Rams have hired former Jets assistant Brian Schottenheimer as its new offensive coordinator and Gregg Williams will run the defense.
