Favorable match ups against teams that gave up more points to RB in 2011 are in red
Unfavorable match ups against teams that restricted points to RB in 2011 are in blue
On the outside looking in- Alfred Morris, Jonathon Stewart, Ben Tate, Mike Tolbert, David Wilson, Jacquizz Rodgers, Alex Green, Pierre Thomas, Bilal Powell, Shane Vereen
Injured/Holdout- Ryan Mathews; Maurice Jones-Drew- Don’t buy into whatever Ryan Mathews says, he’s not going to play in week 1. I expect a lot out of Mathews in the season as a whole, but nothing in the first couple of weeks.
MJD’s holdout is looking more and more likely to extend into the regular season by the day. It has the potential to go well into the season, but is very likely going to prohibit him from playing week 1.
News and notes about matchups
- With no MJD in the picture and what I expect to be a very poor Minnesota defense, Rashad Jennings becomes a low-end RB1 in his first game. Jennings has been extremely productive when he has had a chance in the Jaguars offense, and expect that to continue with more playing time. If you do draft MJD(not recommended) definitely get Jennings as a handcuff, you will need him.
- Toby Gerhart is ranked higher than Peterson for the first week. It was announced that Peterson will be a gametime decision for his game since tearing his ACL. Expect Peterson to suit up and even start but not play nearly as much as Gerhart. Even if Peterson were to play the full game, I wouldn’t expect him to be the Adrian Peterson of old in his first game back.
- Expect Doug Martin to start off his career strong as he faces a very weak Panther defense. Now there are talks of Blount possibly being moved to the trading talks, which would make Martin one of the very few three down backs in the NFL.
