Mark Anderson and Andre Carter changed the dynamic of the New England Patriots defense in 2011. In previous years, the Patriots defense had lacked pass rushing in the deepest way possible.

Fans screamed after draft, ‘”they didn’t get one again!”. However, in 2011 they had two. Carter is a free agent and could still sign, but Mark Anderson is gone, receiving a 4-year, $27 million monster deal from Buffalo, and his act will be hard to follow.

Bill Belichick picked up Anderson off the scrap heap and put his skill of rushing the passer to work. Considering Belichick signed Anderson for $1.3 million and squeezed 10.5 sacks out of him, he felt $27 million was too rich for his blood.

Most players who leave New England never have the same success, so we may seen the best of Anderson, but who can replace his production this year?
