In case you missed it, and I really hope you didn't, Russell Wilson was on fire last night against the Kansas City Chiefs last night. Numbers don't tell the whole story, but Wilson was 13 of 19 passing with 185 yards and 2 touchdowns tosses. Oh yeah, he also ran for 58 yards on 2 carries. Wilson was drafted in the 3rd round of this year's draft, and he was and to a point still is considered a long-shot to be a successful starter at the pro level. Through this preseason, he's been doing his best to prove his naysayers wrong, and he's been succeeding. The most common complaint about Wilson is that he's too short to play quarterback. At just 5'11", Wilson is just one inch taller than one of the most famous short men to play the position, Doug Flutie. What Russell Wilson loses in height, he makes up for with athleticism. Last night he showed the football world exactly why he should be a starting quarterback. He throws a solid ball, but his big...

Seattle names Russell Wilson starting QB

Rookie Russell Wilson was earned the Seattle Seahawks' starting quarterback job. That was the word from coach Pete Carroll on Sunday night after he announced that the third-round pick from Wisconsin will start when the regular season begins Sept. 9 at Arizona. Starting Strong: Russell Wilson Ends the Quarterback Drama in Seattle

With his standout performance against Kansas City Friday night, rookie Russell Wilson has probably locked up the starting quarterback spot for the Seattle Seahawks. I don’t see how he can’t be first on the depth chart now.   Wilson, who started for the first time, was sensational for the visiting Seahawks, who dismantled the Chiefs early and kept pouring it on, winning 44...

Wilson makes his case for Seahawks

Russell Wilson made the most of his first chance to start for Seattle. The rookie quarterback threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns in a just under three quarters of work Friday night, leading the Seahawks to a 44-14 rout of the Kansas City Chiefs. The third-round draft pick has been competing for the No. 1 job with Matt Flynn, the former Green Bay backup who signed in the offseason...

Russell Wilson wants your attention

“He’s a nice talent that won some games in college, but he’s too short to succeed in the NFL. It’s a grown mans league, and while has some skill, he simply won’t be able to overcome being vertically challenged.” That sentence went through the minds of all 32 NFL teams during the draft, as Russell Wilson fell into Seattle’s lap in the 3 rd round. He continued to dominate...

Russell Wilson named week one starter

Rookie quarterback Russell Wilson has been given the starting job by head coach Pete Carroll. Wilson, a third round pick form the University of Wisconsin, beat out high-priced free agent Matt Flynn after a strong preseason performance. The competition is over, and the rookie has won.  Pete Carroll announced tonight that Russell Wilson is the Seahawks' new starting quarterback.  He'll start the final preseason game against the Raiders, although there's been no indication of how long they plan on letting him play in the game, then keep the job for the regular season opener against the Cardinals. It should...

What started as a three-man competition to be the Seahawks’ starting quarterback is down to only one, as coach Pete Carroll announced Sunday night that rookie Russell Wilson has won the job.

The Importance Of The Third Preseason Game For The Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks third preseason game is Friday night. Most teams use the third preseason game as a sort of dress rehearsal for the regular season; the starters will generally play well into the third quarter. The Seahawks uncertain quarterback situation has apparently led them to buck that trend. Rookie Russell Wilson will make his first NFL start on Friday when the Seahawks visit the...

Seahawks trade Jackson to Bills

The success of rookie Russell Wilson this preseason in Seattle has given the team some peace of mind at the quarterback position, and they've dealt last year's starter Tarvaris Jackson to the Bills in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick. Jackson's starting job looked to be in jeopardy this offseason when the Seahawks signed former Packers backup Matt Flynn, but it...
