NFL Draft Zone:
Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, who shocked the football world as a rookie last season, has been nominated for an ESPY Award: best breakthrough athlete.
The ESPYS, ESPN’s annual sports-award show, is slated for 6 p.m. Pacific time on July 17. Fans can vote on ESPN.com for nominees in 35 award categories.
Wilson is one of five youngsters nominated in the “best breakthrough athlete” category. He is up against San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel, L.A. Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig and L.A. Angels outfielder Mike Trout.
BEST OF MAXIM
With the addition of Percy Harvin, who was obtained in a March trade for three draft choices, the Seattle Seahawks wide receiver core is one of the best in franchise history. “It’s been great working with these guys,” Harvin said, referring to Sidney Rice, Golden Tate and Doug Baldwin. “We have a lot of fun off the field. We’re always hanging out at Sid’s house
The Seattle Seahawks came out of nowhere last year and let’s think back to where they were, at this time in 2012. They were preparing to start Matt Flynn, one of the best (at the time) free agent signings they could have made. That obviously never happened because Pete Carroll made a controversial move, by starting Russell Wilson. He looked far more impressive during preseason...
San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis is already on a team that has dynasty written all over them, but he says if you travel north to Seattle, they could possibly be the next premier organization.
The Seahawks are biggest challenger to the San Francisco 49ers' intentions of continue to dominate the NFC.
The team made several moves in the offseason solidifying an deep...
ESPN’s Johns Clayton doesn’t believe Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson will throw more than 26-28 passes a game this coming season.
This doesn’t come as a surprise at all. As much I would love to see the Seahawks let Wilson throw more in 2013, he’s probably not ready to carry that team on his shoulders just yet.
It’s going to take another year or two before the Seahawks...
Second year quarterback Russell Wilson said the turning point for the Seahawks came in a victory Oct. 14 at CenturyLink Field against the New England Patriots.
In a come from behind win, Wilson and his team launched a comeback that not only gave them the win, but the confidence that they had the talent to compete against the NFL’s elite.
“I’d definitely say the Patriots...
And a wildcard
The Seattle Seahawks had a good tandem already of Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin with Michael Robinson leading the way for them. They added to their stockpile of rushing weapons when they drafted both Christine Michael (Texas A&M) and Spencer Ware (LSU).
The roster is going to be tough to make for newcomers with the roster depth already quite impressive as it...
Much has been made in recent months about the number of suspensions of Seattle Seahawks players for performance enhancing drug use. The Seahawks have had five players since 2011 get popped for taking banned substances, not including All-Pro corner Richard Sherman who got his suspension dropped on a technicality after appealing. Brandon Browner, Sherman’s partner in crime in the...
According to ESPN’s John Clayton, Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is looking to put himself in a better position to record more interceptions in 2013.
I can’t imagine Sherman being able to top the numbers he racked up last season. Opposing NFL quarterbacks are going to be reluctant to throw the ball his way this coming season.

“Slump” Isn’t in Russell Wilson’s Vocabulary
Hey there sports fans. We now find ourselves in the…interesting time of professional sports.
The NBA season is over, we have a couple months until the NFL season starts, and we are approaching the MLB All Star break with the Mariners holding steady at third place in the AL West.
But fear not – there is plenty of buzz around...
After a Super Bowl berth this past season and falling one incomplete pass of being Super Bowl champions, the San Francisco 49ers have found themselves among the favorites to return to the big game next February. Interestingly enough, one of their biggest roadblocks to another title game appearance are the Seattle Seahawks who reside in the exact same division.
With two games scheduled...
