In April 2012, the Washington Redskins took a risk and traded up to draft Robert Griffin III of Baylor as the second overall pick in the NFL Draft. The Redskins brought in Griffin to be the savior. He was the future of a franchise that was completely void of a consistent quarterback. Expectations were high and the stakes were higher. This was a boom or bust draft pick for everyone involved.On the contrary, the Seattle Seahawks drafted Russell Wilson in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. After signing quarterback Matt Flynn to a multi-year deal, Wilson would serve as a safety net for the organization. Wilson wasn’t a necessity, but a luxury.
