Russell's play only part of Raiders' problems

ALAMEDA -- History was made at the Meadowlands in the Raiders' latest embarrassment, a 44-7 loss to the New York Giants on Sunday. For the first time since the advent of the common NFL draft in 1967, three of the 17 quarterbacks selected with a No. 1 overall pick played in the same game ? rising star Eli Manning (2004), certifiable bust David Carr (2002) and the Raiders' enigmatic JaMarcus Russell (2007), who, no matter what the passer rating stats say, was outplayed by both of the Giants' signal callers. So yes, five games into his crucial third pro season, Russell has to up his game just to raise his ceiling to Carr's floor. Russell has been so bad this season, his bar is that much lower.
