Geoff Hobson reports that the Cincinnati Bengals met with free agent QB Ryan Fitzpatrick on Sunday and Kimberly Jones adds that he also visited with the Titans as well. Since being released by the Bills last week, there hasn’t been a lot of reported interest in Fitzpatrick, despite a poor crop of free agent quarterbacks. Surprisingly enough, Matt Cassel was able to secure a backup job with the Vikings after only being on the market for a matter of hours, which helps to illustrate the lack of interest in Fitzpatrick at this point in time. Fitzpatrick, 30, previously played for the Bengals back in 2007 and 2008. Cincinnati could use a backup quarterback after Bruce Gradkowski departed for the Steelers, but it’s doubtful that he would be able to push Andy Dalton for the starting job during training camp. As for the Titans, their interest is a little surprising given that they currently have Matt Hasselbeck in place as their backup to Jake Locker. Hasselbeck is however 37-years-old and set to make $5.5 million for the upcoming season, so there’s a chance that they could be prepared to part ways with him and free up some cap space in the process.
