Atlanta's offensive line is keeping Matt Ryan on his feet. That's a big reason the Falcons are 2-0. Ryan has been sacked only twice. He has five touchdown passes with no interceptions as the Falcons prepare to play San Diego, another 2-0 team, on Sunday. Coach Mike Smith challenged the offensive line in the offseason, saying starting jobs were open for competition. Left tackle Sam Baker is winning compliments from his teammates after surviving the offseason challenge. Baker held Denver's two-time Pro Bowl defensive end Elvis Dumervil without a sack on Monday night. Tight end Tony Gonzalez says this is the best he has seen Baker play. Right tackle Tyson Clabo also played well but gave up the Broncos' only sack to Von Miller.

Matt Ryan on the verge of becoming elite

Atlanta, GA. When the Atlanta Falcons selected Matt Ryan with the 3rd overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft, it was obvious that he was going to be given every chance to be their QB and leader for the next decade or so. He immediately gave Falcons fans hope, winning offensive rookie of the year and leading Atlanta to an 11-5 record. In fact, in his four years as starting QB for the...

Falcons RB Turner apologizes for DUI arrest

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. Falcons running back Michael Turner apologized on Wednesday for his arrest one day earlier on suspicion of DUI. Id like to apologize to (owner) Mr. (Arthur) Blank, (general manager) Thomas Dimitroff, (head coach) Mike Smith, the whole Falcons organization out there and the fans for the situation Im in right now, Turner said. Its a bad decision on my part. I...

Running game critical for Falcons

More than once in the second half of the Falcons 27-21 victory over Denver on Monday night, right tackle Tyson Clabo found himself on the ground at the end of a play and had trouble standing up again. Entering the Broncos game, Clabo, a Pro-Bowler in 2010-11, was listed as questionable with a hip injury. With a short week facing the Falcons and having departed on Friday afternoon...

Turner, Johnson exemplify short RB shelf life

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. Its been a rough start to the season for two of the most productive running backs in the NFL over the last five seasons, Atlantas Michael Turner and Tennessees Chris Johnson. Between 2008 and 2011, no running gained more rushing yards than Johnsons 5,645 a crown, at this rate, that hell have trouble keeping on his head when the 2012 season has ended. For his...

Fantasy Football Week 3: Atlanta Falcons at San Diego Chargers

Both the Atlanta Falcons and San Diego Chargers are off to a 2-0 start; each team would love to notch that third win.The Chargers haven't looked as impressive as the Falcons thus far into the season but this game should have plenty of fantasy wealth throughout.San Diego Chargers (2-0): Philip Rivers lost his No. 1 receiver to free agency but is starting to build a nice chemistry...

Atlanta at San Diego NFL Week 3 Preview: Can Falcons/Chargers Winner Become Super Bowl Bound?

This contest has ‘Game of the Week’ written all over it despite a few others drawing more unnecessary attention. This just happens to be the only matchup of the entire day (save Eagles-Cards) that features undefeated squads. The reason being would be a pair of underrated defenses and star quarterbacks that are still attempting to get over that hump that many feel they are not...

Atlanta Falcons (2-0) at San Diego Chargers (2-0)

Atlanta Falcons (2-0) at San Diego Chargers (2-0) The Chargers are one of just six 2-0 teams left in the NFL. Have they conquered their early season woes? They certainly look good. They’ve used 7 of their last 8 picks in the first 3 rounds on defensive players and it seems to have paid off while veterans like Quentin Jammer and Shaun Phillips seem to be holding things together...

Atlanta Falcons: Week 3 NFL Power Rankings (#5)

Last week: 5 (+0) Record: 2-0 I wasn’t that impressed with the Falcons on Monday Night. I felt like they should have been up 20 given how badly the Broncos started and how much they turned the ball over, but they didn’t capitalize like they should have. They lost the yardage total battle and the yards per play battle and if it wasn’t for those 4 turnovers, they probably would...
