PLAYERS: Rex RyanGeno Smith
TEAMS: New York Jets
Rex Ryan insists he and the New York Jets refuse to put much stock into what their many critics and detractors say about them. The coach also acknowledges, however, that all the negative talk outside their facility has helped sparked them to a surprising 3-2 start following a 30-28 victory at Atlanta led by a turnover-free Geno Smith on Monday night. Ryan says Tuesday in a conference call that people can ''try to discredit us all you want'' because their wins have come against teams with a combined 3-11 record, but adds that he and the team ''really don't care.'' The Jets find themselves a game out of first place in the AFC East after some thought they would be hard-pressed to win three games all season. --- AP NFL website:

Why Rex Ryan is off the hot seat...for now

Something has been a little off sense this season started. Sure, there has been an extra helping of upsets and strange results, but that isn’t quite it either. The most noticeable difference is actually what’s missing, not what’s new. The New York Jets now sit with a 3-2 record after beating the Atlanta Falcons on Monday night. With the win, the Jets stay just a game back...

Rex Ryan: Mark Sanchez is not dead

Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez have been through a lot together and the head coach has mostly talked about his quarterback in the present tense. On Wednesday, Ryan found himself awkwardly discussing the injured Sanchez's time with the Jets in past tense but made it clear that Sanchez's quarterbacking career isn't over — wherever it is. “We’re acting like he’s...

New York Jets Win – Celebrate But Refocus for the Steelers This Time

What a win. To swing fifteen rounds with the Falcons the way Rex and Geno’s Jets did last night has to give any diehard the hope that John Idzik’s train is moving in the right direction. Now for a sobering truth. This franchise has shocked the world many times before. It’s the game following the upset that often bites the New York Jets. There have too many instances in Jet history...

Brady vs. Ryan - and no it's not the Jets again

Rob Ryan back in his days with Dallas. Image from Whenever the Patriots are around, there always seems to be a Ryan that follows. Whether it is the Jets or Saint's, the tempo always is picked up when the teams come together. One of the Ryan's, the coach of the New York Jets Rex Ryan, usually is no problem for the Patriots offense and defense. But the Saint'...

New York Jets: Quarter-Season Report Card

New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan   The first four games of the New York Jets campaign have certainly had their ups and downs, with the latter of the two usually being more extreme and the former containing only small glimpses of promise and positivity. While the negatives have been bountiful so far in almost all three major areas of the game for the Jets, they stand at a modest...

MNF Week 5: Rex Ryan's Final Stand

I like Rex Ryan. He’s never given me a legitimate reason to become one of the many haters out there. He’s loud, cocky, and a tad bit obnoxious at times (more than a tad, as many will argue). But I love that. When I see Ryan at the mic during press conferences, I don’t always see a cocky coach; I see a confident one. I love players and coaches who talk trash and back it up...

Rex Ryan Says Bilal Powell Is Most Underrated Player In The NFL

ESPN Former Louisville running back Bilal Powell is off to best season in the NFL. In five games with the New York Jets, Powell is averaging 66 yards per contest and has rushed for a total of 253 yards in their last three games. Powell was held to just 38-yards in last night’s 30-28 win over the Atlanta Falcons, but had a key six yard run at the very end of the game to set-up a...

New York Jets Defensive Line Grade Sheet: Week 5

Another week, another dominant performance from the Jets defensive line. The Jets took on an Atlanta offensive line that has had some injuries and serious struggles this season. On Monday night, on a prime time stage, the big men up front exposed that weakness, limiting quarterback Matt Ryan’s time in the pocket, along with the Falcon’s run game as a whole. I think most expect...

New York Jets: They Might Believe, But Are They Serious?

The New York Jets dodged another bullet with their 30-28 win against the Atlanta Falcons. It was a stunning win for the club that was supposed to be terrible this year. Going away and playing in a hostile Atlanta stadium isn’t a walk in the park. But as we see the Falcons fold right in front of our eyes some things aren’t surprising.Head coach Rex Ryan has his players believing...

New York Jets Week 5 – Linebacker Grade Sheet

After a stunning week five win in Atlanta, the Jets are beginning to turn heads in the NFL. A big reason for their surprising success has been the superb play from Rex Ryan’s defense. Team’s are struggling to develop any type of ground game against the Jets, which is also limiting their aerial attack (no development of play action). The Jets linebackers were finally tested against...

Initial Reaction – Hello World! New York Jets Drop Falcons 30-28

In what was arguably their best regular season win since the beginning of the 2011 season, the New York Jets knocked off the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football, 30-28. Yes, those New York Jets are 3-2. Rex Ryan, the lame duck coach who is just waiting to be fired. Geno Smith, the bum rookie who should be benched for Matt Simms…and the rest of the gang continues to win football...
