Found February 10, 2013 on Pro Football Zone:
There have been some reports that the Cleveland Browns may look to trade for Patriots back up quarterback Ryan Mallett with the addition of Michael Lombardi to their front office. According to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, the Browns aren’t expected to go after Mallett. Even if Lombardi wants Mallett, (which we don’t know) the rest of the Browns front office would also have to be on board and I’m not sure they’d be willing to give up the draft picks needed to make the move happen.       Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1;...

Patriots may rid themselves of both Brandon Lloyd and Wes Welker

Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe believes  both Brandon Lloyd and Wes Welker likely won’t be back with the Patriots next season.  And I agree with him. It’s been obvious for a while now that Wes Welker is likely done in New England.  If they place the franchise tag on him for a second straight season, it will cost them $11.4 million for the 2013 season.  They can’t afford...

How Bad Is Brandon Weeden? He Ranked 34th In The Football Outsiders’ Passing DYAR in 2012,

Brandon Weeden’s term as the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback could be coming to an end. Weeden didn’t have the stiller season Browns fans were hoping for when the former brain trust of the Browns, used the 22nd pick in the first round to draft the aging quarterback who failed to make a career in major league baseball. Weeden was the worst in the 2012 rookie class among Q...

Danny Woodhead may have played his last down in New England

New England Patriots running back Danny Woodhead is scheduled to hit the  free agent market next month and may have played his last down with Bill Belichick and company. A fan favorite in Foxborough over the last three seasons, RB Danny Woodhead is no certainty to return to the Patriots. Woodhead is entering free agency for the first time in his career. According to Jason La Canfora, the Cleveland Browns new front office “badly wants to upgrade from former first-round pick Brandon Weeden.“ La Canfora mentions that Alex Smith could be in play for the Browns. Michael Vick was also listed as a speculative option for Cleveland, but he restructured his deal to remain with the Eagles earlier this morning. The Browns new coaching...

Patriots rumors: Wes Welker, Brandon Lloyd gone?

The New England Patriots have several options when it comes to tackling their offseason, but one route could have them allowing Wes Welker to walk and also parting ways with Brandon Lloyd, according to Greg A. Bedard of The Boston Globe. Bedard believes cutting ties with its veteran wide outs represents the best option for the Patriots. Welker is set to become an unrestricted...

McGinest: Time for Brady to have talk with Gronkowski

A year after catching flak for being filmed dancing on a badly sprained ankle following the New England Patriots' Super Bowl loss to the New York Giants, Rob Gronkowski TMZed it up again. This time around, the tight end was filmed performing wrestling moves at a Vegas nightclub while sporting a cast on his twice-surgically repaired forearm, which was broken in two different...

NFL Match.Com: Alex Smith to the Eagles

Chip Kelly is the new head of the Philadelphia Eagles.   He wasn’t a popular choice to coach the Philadelphia Eagles but fortunately for him, Philadelphians are a patient group of people.   …… said no one ever.   It’s no secret, Chip Kelly needs to get off to a rousing start or start … Continue reading »

Percy Harvin Would Be Perfect Fit for Patriots’ Offense As Vikings Attempt to Trade Troubled Wide Receiver

Back in 2009, the Patriots held the No. 23 overall pick in the NFL draft. Percy Harvin went No. 22 and New England immediately traded down to No. 26, and then out of the first round entirely. That may not have been a coincidence. The Patriots worked out Harvin prior to the draft, and then-Vikings head coach Brad Childress thought Minnesota stole the Florida product out from under...

How the Browns could win a Joe Flacco negotiation

The world of NFL contracts is pretty tough to comprehend at times due to the fact that there are various bonuses and cap implications. Baseball, conversely, is pretty easy. There are contracts with dollar amounts and options, and other than options, pretty much everything else is guaranteed. The structures (and re-structures) of NFL contracts will sometimes make your head spin....
