New Orleans’ John Kasay made a 26-yard field goal with 8:42 left to lift the Saints to a 26-23 victory in overtime on Sunday at the Georgia Dome.
Falcons coach Mike Smith made a big gamble in overtime. He went for it on a fourth-and-1 from the Falcons 29. Running back Michael Turner was stuffed by Shaun Rogers and Will Smith for a loss.
The Saints held a 10-6 haltime lead.
The Saints opened at 23-13 lead in the fourth quarter before the Falcons stormed back to force overtime.
The past four games games in the series have been decided by a field goal. The past six have been decided by a touchdown or less.
The Saints improved to 7-3 and remain in first place in the NFC South. The Falcons dropped to 5-4.
