A victory with mixed emotions for the second consecutive week as the Saints won 34-31 in Dallas. On this same day they were eliminated from any chance at the playoffs due to a Vikings win, and we're left wondering why they couldn't play like this more consistently this season. It was a game full of ups and downs, but there is no question in my mind that the better team won this game. Without Dez Bryant and Jabari Greer going down with a concussion, Dallas would have never come close to making a game of it. Below are my bullet thoughts on the game. Brees had a fantastic game with no turnovers. The Saints had decent balance with 53 passes and 38 runs, and Brees in all those attempts never turned it over. He threw for 446 yards. The defense, other than some spotty tackling here and there and horrible coverage by Patrick Robinson on Dez Bryant, was largely ok. The Saints only averaged 3.1 yards per carry, but their commitment to the run helped them move the...

Saints may talk about an extension with Jimmy Graham in the offseason

According to Dan Parr of ProFootballWeekly.com, the New Orleans may end taking some time this coming offseason to sit down with tight end Jimmy Graham to try to work out a contract extension. The Saints have not always made it an urgent priority to get extensions done with players before they enter their contract year (see Drew Brees), but our sources expect the team to at least...

Greatest Christmas themed TD Celebration: Saints Pierre Thomas (Video)

Former New Orleans Saints wide receiver Joe Horn set bar eight years ago: pulling out a cell phone from the goalpost to celebrate at Superdome touchdown. Current Saints tailback Pierre Thomas continued the “I really think is a football movie, and not the actual NFL” type TD celebration with  a holiday-themed maneuver on Monday Night Football. After punching it in from inside...

Drew Brees & Jahri Evans Key To Fixing Saints Salary Cap Mess?

Brian McIntyre of Yahoo! Sports writes that the Saints could look to restructuring the contracts of QB Drew Brees and G Jahri Evans in order to free up some much needed cap space. We wrote earlier in the week that the Saints could be forced to part ways with LB Jonathan Vilma and DE Will Smith because of the salaries and the that they’re projected to be $16 million...

Vitt praises Saints' resolve, aims for .500 finish

Saints assistant head coach Joe Vitt is urging his players to keep thinking about the Lombardi Trophy as they prepare for what otherwise is an anticlimactic season finale between two non-playoff teams. ''There's two types of Super Bowl winners: Those that win and those that win one. And our goal is to win two and we're working toward that goal right now,''...

Saints Nation: Offensive Player Grades @ Cowboys

There is no question the better team won this game on Sunday. The Saints' offense move the ball well and struck perfect balance. The offensive line played well, and while numerous mistakes were made, reflected in a very up and down game, the end result was 34 points scored in a win. What's not to like?   Drew Brees: A+ (2.76) To me this was his best game of the...

Saints Clip Cowboys In OT Thriller: 5 Things We Learned

1.       When they are on the Saints can beat anyone. The Saints looked good the last two weeks. They destroyed the Bucs last week and they beat a hot Dallas Cowboy team on the road. Drew Brees, when not throwing interceptions, is out of this world. Even though this team isn’t going to make the playoffs they are still an offensive juggernaut. Brees leads the NFL with 4781...

Preview: Dallas Cowboys (8-6) vs. New Orleans Saints (6-8)

It’s another must win game for the Dallas Cowboys this Sunday, as they face off against the New Orleans Saints. As always, the name of the game when playing the Saints is shutting down Drew Brees. Brees has thrown for over 4,300 yards and 36 touchdowns so far on the season, but his completion percentage [...] Related posts: Week 9 Preview: Dallas Cowboys visit the Atlanta Falcons...

Saints Nation: 5 Things to Look For in Saints @ Cowboys

After drubbing the Bucs 41-0, I'm anxious to see the Saints play another team fighting for their playoff lives, this time on the road. Was the Bucs game an abberation of the 2012 season or have the Saints truly turned a corner? The Saints need to win out and need a massive amount of help for the postseason to work out, and well, it ain't happening. But you have to feel better...

Saints Nation: Defensive and Special Teams Player Grades @ Cowboys

The defense had one of their signature games of 2012, riddled with inconsistency. If you take away Dez Bryant and two late fourth quarter drives to make the game interesting, the defense was fantastic throughout. Unfortunately you can't take those things away, and the defense has what would be considered a "bad" game because of it. It's too bad, because this...

Cowboys don't have enough in OT

Garrett Hartley kicked a 20-yard field in overtime, and the New Orleans Saints damaged Dallas' playoff hopes with a 34-31 victory against the Cowboys on Sunday.

Saints Beat Cowboys 34-31 In Wild Overtime Finish

The Saints blew a 14-point 4th quarter lead but managed to escape Dallas with a win after a wild overtime ending. After missing his first field goal attempt earlier in the game, Garrett Hartley nailed his next two, including the overtime game-winner, as the Saints held on in Dallas to beat the Cowboys 34-31. The Saints finished with 562 total offensive yards, the 5th most...

Cowboys still control fate

ARLINGTON, Tex, - Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints won't go to the playoffs in their season without suspended coach Sean Payton. The Dallas Cowboys again need help to get there.

Dez Bryant wants Deion Sanders to follow him on Twitter

Former Oklahoma State wide receiver and current Dallas Cowboy, Dez Bryant, reached out to former NFL star Deion Sanders. It wasn’t just the normal reach out either. Bryant requested that Sanders to please follow him back on Twitter. The only thing that would make this story any better would be if he asked him for a retweet. https://twitter.com/dezbryant/status/283086664337850369...

Cowboys Coach Garrett Says Dez Bryant Seems Unfazed By Fractured Finger

Dez Bryant is growing up before our eyes.  He’s displaying maturity, toughness, and a want to win that is carrying the Dallas Cowboys right now. His coach Jason Garrett says Dez is play is off the charts, I say he’s on another planet, and as Garrett told ESPN Dallas, Bryant is unfazed by his finger injury. “He’s playing pretty well,” coach Jason Garrett said of Bryant...

Bryant Fulfills His Dez-tiny

Coming into what for most is the fantasy championship, Dez Bryant was a question mark.  The broken left index finger he suffered a few weeks ago put him on the verge of missing the remainder of the season.  Well I’m sure fantasy owners are happy the Cowboys were still playing for something this Sunday as Dez – if he isn’t playing next week – finished off an amazing fantasy...
