Hard to believe, but a team that the Saints beat by almost 30 points in the Superdome barely over a month ago that finished 9-7 will end up in playing for a chance to win it all. The Giants beat the 49ers, and I have to say I'm relieved by that. The idea of a quarterback as poor as Alex Smith winning a Super Bowl just makes me sick. Yes, I'm still bitter about the Saints being out of it especially when you consider that the NFC Championship could have been a home game. While the Patriots' defense are as bad as ever, their offense is unstoppable. I'm picking the Patriots to exact revenge over the Giants and win this Super Bowl.

So there we have it, a repeat of the 2008 Super Bowl: Giants vs. Patriots.

The game features on the Patriots a former Saint (Rob Ninkovich) and two LSU players (Kevin Faulk and Stevan Ridley). The Giants feature one LSU player (Corey Webster) and another on their injured reserve (Michael Clayton). Former Saint Steve Weatherford is also on their roster. The Giants also feature New Orleanian Eli Manning and Brandon Jacobs who hails from Napoleonville.

This Super Bowl matchup kind of bothers me because I am sick of seeing the Patriots win and because I don't feel like Eli Manning is a good enough quarterback to deserve multiple Super Bowls. I'm very much torn on who to root for. Part of me feels like a 9-7 doesn't deserve it, but I also feel like a defense ranked 31st overall doesn't deserve it either. That does bode well for the future of the Saints, though. If they can maintain being so prolific on offense, it seems like the days of "defense wins championships" is over. The Patriots proved that by beating the Baltimore Ravens. A superior offense these days with an elite quarterback is capable of winning every single year. That's good news for the next 3-4 years if Drew Brees can stay healthy. Even if the Saints make marginal to no progress on defense, you have to like their chances to vie for a playoff spot.

Who are you rooting for in the Super Bowl?
