Two seasons ago, San Diego Chargers OT Marcus McNeill underwent a holdout in order to obtain a new contract, after this season, the San Diego Chargers appear ready to release the offensive tackle in order to clear some salary cap space. McNeill has only appeared in 20 of the Chargers last 32 games and struggled with health issues this season.
OT Marcus McNeill has to be cleared by Chargers team doctors no later than March 15th in order to receive his salary for 2012, a move which is not expected to happen. San Diego must upgrade their offensive line heading into the 2012 season.
According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, two other veteran players could be released by the San Diego Chargers in order to clear more cap space. DE Luis Castillo, who suffered a leg fracture early on in the 2011 regular season is a candidate to be released while having a $6 million dollar cap value.
