During the 2010 season, the San Diego Chargers held the statistical number one position for the top offense and top defense but they struggled with special teams play. This season, the Chargers addressed that poor play with the hiring of Special Teams coach Rich Bisaccia, formerly with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This afternoon however, the Chargers special teams play for the 2011 season might have suffered a major hit. After the initial kickoff, the Chargers kicker, Nate Kaeding was carted off the field after trying to make a tackle on Minnesota Vikings WR Percy Harvin on his 103 yard kickoff return. It’s being reported this evening that Kaeding has suffered a torn ACL in his left knee. Kaeding was removed from the field in a cart right after the opening kickoff.
