Peyton Manning's arrival in the AFC West apparently has put the Denver Broncos' rivals on notice, as the need to acquire quality defensive help is now at a premium. In line with that thinking, the San Diego Chargers have re-signed defensive end Luis Castillo to a one-year contract. Castillo has been a valuable contributor to the Chargers front seven over the years, helping mold San Diego's defensive line into a consistent, solid unit. During his first six seasons, the former first-round draft pick had 276 tackles, 19 sacks, and 43 tackles-for-loss while playing in 81 games (78 starts). In seven playoff starts for the Bolts, Castillo has been solid, producing 20 total tackles, two sacks, and four TFL's. However, the 6-3, 290-pounder is coming off a major injury, as Castillo suffered a fractured tibia in the Chargers’ 2011 season opener against Minnesota and missed the remainder of the season. He was officially placed on the “Reserve-Injured” list Dec. 8. ...
