San Diego Chargers Retire #55 In Honor Of Seau -
The San Chargers have officially retired number 55, the number worn by linebacker Junior Seau, who accomplished so much on the field and represented the team so well off the field. Shortly before the start of the Chargers’ home opener against Tennessee, the Chargers retired Junior Seau’s No. 55 jersey. Seau committed suicide in May at the age of 43. Sunday, there was no mention of how Seau died, it wasn’t important. It was a pure tribute to one of the greatest linebackers who ever played the game. Seau’s parents and children were on the field for the ceremony. Seau’s death never made sense and it still doesn’t. All his family, friends and the organization can do is deal with it and Sunday was a nice part of the healing process As team President Dean Spanos said so eloquently during the Celebration of Life for Junior he hosted for the community in May: “As you all know, no one has worn a Chargers jersey with the number 55 on it since Junior; and clearly, no one will ever replace him in this community or on the team. There is only one Junior, and only one number 55. They belong together forever.” The retirement of a player’s number is the most prestigious honor the team can bestow on one of its players. It’s everlasting. It’s forever. Games and seasons come and go, but number 55 will never appear on a Chargers jersey again, but the number will hang at all home games for Chargers fans and future generations to appreciate.

It’s only been a few months since Junior Seaus’ passing, and today the San Diego Chargers honored Seau by retiring his number.
Defensive end Antonio Garay, chose to pay tribute to the late Seau by have a face portrait shaved into his head along side the number 55.
While the untimely passing of Seau was a shock to many, Garay who probably didn’t know Seau well, thought enough...

No, I’m not convinced the Chargers have suddenly become good in the 1st half of the season. The Raiders and the Titans suck. They’ll have a test this week when Atlanta comes to town. That being said, I think this is still the favorite in the AFC West. The Broncos are not a finished product, as you saw in Monday Night, and they have a tougher schedule...
Tight end Antonio Gates and running back Ryan Mathews are among the San Diego Chargers' inactives for their game against the Tennessee Titans.
Gates has a rib injury and Mathews hasn't played since breaking his collarbone on his first carry of the exhibition opener on Aug. 9. Also inactive for the second straight game is Jared Gaither, out with back spasms since July 28...
Chargers RB Curtis Brinkley is starting Sunday's game in favor of Ronnie Brown.Fantasy Spin:Brown is on his last legs. Brinkley handled more carries than the veteran in Week 1 but neither did much against the Raiders. Oakland is getting shredded by Reggie Bush Sunday so it's more likely Brown and Brinkley just aren't very good. Only start Brinkley if you're desperate.
Owning Antonio Gates in fantasy means you'll be an expert on the Q/D that shows next to his name all year long. I drafted Gates in the sixth round, so I don't have a huge investment in him. Plus I drafted Fleener as a TE handcuff. Now on to yesterday. Here is a timeline of how Gates' impact transpired:8:00a - Initial check/review of lineup. Proceed to watch pregames...
The board of directors at the San Diego Hall of Champions has decided to forego the normal voting process and induct Junior Seau into the Breitbard Hall of Fame on Feb. 25.
Dante Rosario made the most of Antonio Gates' absence. The tight end had three touchdown catches for the first time in his NFL career and San Diego's defense harassed Jake Locker all afternoon as the Chargers beat the Tennessee Titans for the ninth straight time, 38-10 Sunday.
SAN DIEGO -- With an injured Antonio Gates sitting out the contest, quarterback Philip Rivers found a new target at tight end to fill the void. Reserve Dante Rosario, who hadn't recorded a touchdown catch since 2009, when he was a member of the Carolina Panthers, was on the receiving end of a career-high three as the Chargers earned a 38-10 victory over Tennessee on Sunday...
SAN DIEGO -- Reserve tight end Dante Rosario had never caught more than two touchdown passes in a season during his previous five in the NFL. On Sunday, he surpassed that mark by becoming a focal point of the Chargers' offense. Rosario, who hadn't recorded a touchdown catch since 2009 when he was a member of the Carolina Panthers, was on the receiving end of a career-high...
Hot News for LB Junior Seau
Well, this one didn't start pretty and it didn't end pretty. The Chargers took the opening kickoff for a touchdown, then scored on their second possession on a short field after an ugly Jake Locker overthrown interception. A three-and-out later, the Chargers were up 17-0 and it was a long day for the Tennessee Titans in their first regular season visit to San Diego since...
