After weeks of searching, the San Diego Chargers have finally found a new head football coach according to a report issued by ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter, the team offered the position to Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and he accepted.
McCoy who has received praise for the work he did last season with quarterback Tim Tebow and again this season with future hall-of-famer Peyton Manning, has been receiving plenty of interest around the league with numerous teams expressing interest.
Manning led the Broncos to a 13-3 regular season record before the team was defeated by the Baltimore Ravens 38-35 in overtime on Saturday in the Divisional round of the AFC Playoffs.
McCoy, who was scheduled to have an interview with the Arizona Cardinals but cancelled after coming to terms with the Chargers, also garnered interested as a head-coaching candidate last year with Miami and also interviewed this offseason with Philadelphia and Chicago.
