After weeks of searching, the San Diego Chargers have finally found a new head football coach according to a report issued by ESPN.com's Adam Schefter, the team offered the position to Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy and he accepted.
McCoy who has received praise for the work he did last season with quarterback Tim Tebow and again this season with future hall-of-famer Peyton Manning, has been receiving plenty of interest around the league with numerous teams expressing interest.
Manning led the Broncos to a 13-3 regular season record before the team was defeated by the Baltimore Ravens 38-35 in overtime on Saturday in the Divisional round of the AFC Playoffs.
McCoy, who was scheduled to have an interview with the Arizona Cardinals but cancelled after coming to terms with the Chargers, also garnered interested as a head-coaching candidate last year with Miami and also interviewed this offseason with Philadelphia and Chicago.
McCoy takes over for the fired Norv Turner who was left go after a disappointing 7-9 season as the Chargers missed out on the postseason for the third straight season.
McCoy's biggest task will be getting quarterback Philip Rivers back to playing at an elite level and getting the most out of talent but oft-injured running back Ryan Mathews.

When you think about it, 31-seconds is not a lot of time. Most commercials run about 30 seconds. “Wait a minute,” is composed of two 30-second halves.
But, as we know, 31-seconds can last an eternity, just ask Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson.
Both teams were 31 seconds from victory and advancing to their conference championship game. But 31-seconds can be an eternity in the...

The morning after the Baltimore Ravens came from behind to beat the top seeded Broncos at home the discussion isn’t about Joe Flacco’s impressive run of recent playoff success; nor is it about Denver’s interesting clock management decisions that came back to haunt them, it is centered on Peyton Manning’s legacy - but disparaging the quarterback is misguided...
