Last week: 7 (+0)
So maybe these are the same old early season Chargers. They beat up on bad teams like last year, but got destroyed against a very good Falcons team. The good news is they should get better as the season goes on, as well, and they’re getting healthier. Antonio Gates and Ryan Mathews were back last week and Jared Gaither could be back this week. He’d be a huge boost to an offensive line that ranks dead last in the league in pass block efficiency, thanks, in large part, to an undrafted rookie left tackle. They still lead the AFC West thanks to a Denver loss and I think they’ll finish right above the Broncos and win the division.
MLB Donald Butler: 8 solo tackles, 2 assists, 6 stops, 1 missed tackle, allowed 2 catches for 14 yards on 4 attempts
QB Philip Rivers: 21 of 38 for 173 yards and 2 interceptions, 3 drops, 1 throw away, 1 hit as thrown, 59.7 adjusted QB rating, pressured on 20 of 40 drop backs (1 sack, 1 scramble, 7 of 18, 2 interceptions...

San Diego Chargers running back Ryan Mathews may be benched due to his penchent of fumbling. In 23 career starts Mathews has 11 fumbles. GM AJ Smith told Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union Tribune that he was “very concerned” and that the fumbles “had to stop” if Mathews was going to continue to be a key part of the Chargers offense.
Smith went on to discuss what happens with...
Chargers GM Says Mathews Fumbling Issues Won’t Be Tolerated For Long -
The Chargers think RB Ryan Mathews is talented, but not so talented they’re willing to overlook his biggest flaw. And general manager A.J. Smith has expressed that in the strongest terms, putting Mathews on notice that his fumbling problems won’t be tolerated for long. “It has to stop. I believe you can...
Ryan Mathews has fumbled the ball 11 times in 27 career games with the San Diego Chargers. His latest fumble near the goal line against the Falcons last Sunday not only caused irritation on the part of Fantasy owners, but it has apparently angered San Diego GM A.J. Smith.
As reported by profootballtalk.com, Smith told Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Times that Mathews’ fumbling...
Whenever there’s a conversation about the best quarterbacks in the NFL San Diego Chargers QB, Philip Rivers, is always thrown in the mix along with guys like Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Drew Brees and the Manning’s. The one thing Rivers does not possess that the others do is a championship, yet he’s often spoken about as if he’s won one.
Philip Rivers is a great fantasy football...
The San Diego Chargers know how important ball security is in the National Football League. They have stressed it with quarterback Philip Rivers, as he has worked to make better decisions on offense. But while Rivers was never in jeopardy of losing snaps or being benched, the same cannot be said for starting and oft injured running back Ryan Mathews.
Chargers GM A.J. Smith is a big...
San Diego, CA. A 27-3 loss, and at home nonetheless. This is an outcome which would put quite a damper on a nice 2-0 start to the season for any NFL team. For the San Diego Chargers, it was a rude awakening that they may not be anywhere near as good as they or their fans had thought. After wins over Oakland and Tennessee, the Chargers were feeling very good, especially when...
Norv Turner spoke yesterday about his San Diego Chargers losing to the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday by a score of 27-3.“We’ve got to take care of the ball,” Turner said. “We can’t turn the ball over. If we turn the football over then we’re not going to beat a team like Atlanta." I notice that when NFL head coaches discuss ways for the team to improve, the first...

San Diego Chargers @ Kansas City ChiefsThe Chargers have struggled on offense but with Ryan Mathews back for his second game and a very soft defense all that could change this week. It is historically tough to play in Arrowhead but the Bills really took it to the Chiefs in week 2 at Arrowhead and if the Chargers can put it all together it could happen here again in week 4.The Chiefs...
The San Diego Chargers are coming to Arrowhead stadium this Sunday in the franchises’ 105th meeting and I’m sure this meeting will be another one to chalk up as a downright brawl just like they’ve been through the decades.
The San Diego Chargers take their 2-1 first place record into Arrowhead Sunday to face the Kansas City Chiefs 1-2.Arrowhead has been a house of horrors for the Chargers of late.Last year quarterback Philip Rivers fumbled the ball, while trying to kneel down and end the game with 1:03 left. Nothing went right for the Kansas City Chiefs in their first two games while little could have gone better for the San Diego Chargers.
Week 3 was a considerably different story.
The Chiefs look to build off their stunning comeback victory Sunday at Arrowhead Stadium, where the Chargers are hoping to bounce back from an ugly no-show.
