Found January 15, 2013 on The Football Fan Spot:
I’m going to do New England/Baltimore later in the week, but I had to lock this one in now because this line is ridiculous. Atlanta is 5 point home underdogs. Being a home underdog in the Conference Championship isn’t unheard of. Even being a home underdog as a #1 seed in the Conference Championship isn’t unheard of. But I can’t find a single case where a team was a home underdog by more than 4 points (a key number), regardless of seed (home dogs of 4+ are 7-3 ATS in the playoffs since 1989). This is the 2nd largest home underdog Matt Ryan has ever been. He was a 6 point home dog last year against the Packers. That Packer team went on to go 15-1. The Falcons were 2.5 point home favorites last week for the Seahawks and won by 2. By the logic of this line, the 49ers are 7 points better than the Seahawks. Uh…didn’t the Seahawks blow the 49ers out a few weeks ago? I know that was in Seattle and the 49ers didn’t have Justin Smith, but when these teams met midseason in San Francisco and t...

‘Kaepernicking’ Earns Meme Status, Inspires Toddler in Rap Video Lauding Quarterback, 49ers (Video)

Memes in general have been around for long enough now that they practically seem old hat. Nonetheless, that isn’t stopping Colin Kaepernick from inspiring some followers. 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick Will Be an Elite Fantasy Option in 2013

If there is one thing to take away from the 444-yard, four touchdown performance of San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback Colin Kaepernick Saturday night in a 45-31 victory over the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Divisional Playoffs, its that Kaepernick is damn good and his value in terms of fantasy football is about to skyrocket. At least it should. 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh was...

Nevada hopes QB will help ticket sales

Nevada athletic officials are trying to capitalize on ''Kap'' mania. Ex-Wolf Pack quarterback Colin Kaepernick has the San Francisco 49ers one win away from their first Super Bowl since 1995. And university officials are hoping the man who is fast becoming one of the school's most famous alums will help them sell some football tickets next year. They announced...

Falcons to host the 49ers in the conference championship with 30-28 win

My stomach hurts. I’m sure Matt Ryan’s does too, after finally receiving a taste of his first playoff win since the Falcons drafted him in 2008. Regardless of the solid 20-0 Atlanta lead at the end of the first half, the game was not decided until Seattle rookie quarterback Russell Wilson’s final heave to the end-zone was intercepted by WR Julio Jones with 0 seconds left on...

The Falcons “Rise Up” to Victory over Seahawks

The Falcons, led by quarterback Matt Ryan and kicker Matt Bryant, clung on to the slipping grasp of victory to get the win over the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC divisional round of playoffs. Matt Ryan threw for 250 yards, completed 24 of 35 passes, and had three touchdowns on...

NFL Divisional Playoffs thoughts & recap

I had my doubts about the Baltimore Ravens but it certainly appears that they are “peaking” just at the right time heading into the AFC Championship Game this week.
