So much for the San Francisco 49ers  offense the nearly totaled 500 yards last week againts the Packers.  That same offense was non-existant againts a superb Seattle defense in a 29-3 defeat on Sundat night. Both star quarterbacks struggled.  Russell Wilson threw for 142 yards and a touchdown but also threw an interception and was sacked four times.  Colin Kaepernick who set career numbers last week, had one of his worse games as 49er.  He was 13 of 28 for 127 yards and had 4 turnovers (3 interceptions, 1 fumble lost.)  Kaepernick did rush for 87 yards on nine carries but that proved to be the only source of offense for the 49ers the whole night.  Anquan Boldin, who had 13 receptions last week, only came up with one and was completely shut down by Richard Sherman.  Vernon Davis, the other receiver threat for San Francisco had 3 catches for 20 yards before coming out of the game with a hamstring injury. For Seattle, it was their running game that enabled them to move the football againts the 49ers.  Although Marshawn Lynch only averaged three yards per carry, he still ran the ball with toughness and brute force and gained 98 yards and two touchdowns.    The Seahawks as a team rushed for 172 yards which is the second most in the Jim Harbaugh era. The 49ers could not sustain long drives and kept making mental mistake after mental mistake.  Even though Seattlle scored 29 points, the 49ers still managed to hold the entire team below 300 yards of total offense and were only down five at halftime.  The mistakes continued however and San Francisco ended the game committing five turnovers and giving up 121 total yards in penalties.  You can’t do that against a great team like the Seahawks, espcially on the road and expect to be in the game, you just can’t. Game Ball(s): Seattle defense It’s hard to give it to just one guy because this unit completely destroyed the 49er offense.  The seconday shut down a good passing game and primarily went with man coverage.  Meanwhile the pass rush, chased Colin Kaepernick around the field and was the reason for the 4 turnovers. Don’t forget about: Paul McQuistan and  James Carpenter Pro- Bowl offensive tackel Russell Okung missed the last three quarters with turf toe which essentially opened up the gates for Aldon Smith and the 49er pass rush to dominate but it didn’t happen.  McQuistan moved from guard to tackel and Carpenter came in at guard and they played very well and kept Russel Wilson upright most of the night.
