When betting opened the 49ers were a 3 point favorite but the Cardinals upset win over Seattle a week ago changed how many view them at this point. The over/under for this game is 42.5 total points. San Francisco has won eight of the last nine contests between these two teams but Bruce Arians has been impressive in leading two different clubs over the last two years. Once more unto the breach, my friends; once more.(photo credit: Ezra Shaw/Getty Images) Setting the stage Although it is not a win-and-in like the Arizona Cardinals would have hoped, Sunday’s game against the rival San Francisco 49ers is no less important. A few weeks later, Rod Graves was fired and Keim was promoted to general manager. At the news conference announcing his hiring, Keim promised he would never forget that feeling in Seattle. Last Sunday, he...

Cardinals focused on 49ers, not playoff scenarios

TEMPE, Ariz. -- In order to qualify for the NFL playoffs, the Cardinals must beat the 49ers on Sunday at University of Phoenix Stadium while the Buccaneers win in New Orleans. It's that simple. Unfortunately for the Cardinals, they can only impact half of that equation. The other half is out of their hands, and that can weigh on a team's mind. "Yeah, it does, but that...

Patriots Sign RB Sam McGuffie to the Practice Squad

The Patriots have announced the signing of running back Sam McGuffie to the team's practice squad. In order to make room for McGuffie, the team also waived running back Cierre Wood from the p-squad. McGuffie's resume in the NFL so far is fairly typical for the Patriots this year. He's an undrafted free agent who was first signed by the Raiders before being...

Cardinals Plead For Buccaneers’ Help On Twitter, Star Wars Style

Cardinals' fortunes break both ways in pursuit of playoffs

TEMPE, Ariz. -- It might be the gift-giving season, but Cardinals fans are well aware that they haven't been on the receiving end of much good fortune the past two weeks. The Cardinals' 3-4 start and a torrid NFC wild-card race has left them in the difficult position of chasing remote playoff hopes. But while a couple recent heartbreaks are fresh in fans minds, it's also...

Cards' defense still has room to get better

If stopping the best team in the league on its home turf with a defensive scheme that all but rendered Seattle’s Russell Wilson ineffective isn’t the best the Arizona Cardinals can do, then watch out. Because, according to them, the best is yet to come, even if they may have just one more chance this season to prove it. Both coach Bruce Arians and veteran linebacker Karlos...

Todd Bowles them over!

Arizona Cardinals' defensive coordinator Todd Bowles.Maybe it’s me, but I’m suddenly thinking the Arizona Cardinals are a lot more ‘legit’ than I ever thought this season. While Arizona ranks just 23rd in total offense, they are also ranked a more impressive 16th in scoring. More importantly, the Cardinals are very, very good defensively for outstanding coordinator Todd...
