The New York Jets and quarterback Mark Sanchez struggled against the San Francisco 49ers Sunday, opening the door for Tim Tebow to see more snaps.

The 49ers beat the Jets, 34-0, at MetLife Stadium.  Sanchez went 13-of-29 for 103 yards and an interception.

Coach Rex Ryan doesn't believe its time for a quarterback change.

“I don’t think that’s the answer, I think Mark’s the answer at quarterback.”

In the second quarter on third--and-one at the 39-yard-line, Tebow completed a nine-yard jump pass to tight end Dedrick Epps, marking his first pass as a Jet.

Epps fumbled the ball on the play after taking a hit and appeared to suffer an injury to his right knee.

“You don’t have to jump, but it’s kind of a pop-pass deal,” Tebow said of the play. “It’s something we’ve worked on for a little while, and felt we had a good look and executed ... it’s just unfortunate what happened to Epps.”

Tebow also rushed the ball twice for zero yards.

Tebow said he's willing to do whatever for the team.

“I just want to do the best I can with whatever role that they give me, and provide enthusiasm and energy every time I get the opportunity,” he said. “But also from the sidelines, or wherever I am, just be a good teammate and just encourage the guys and whenever I get the opportunity, just take advantage of them.”

It may be time for the Jets to bench Mark Sanchez

The San Francisco 49ers are a good football team, but that's no excuse for laying a goose egg on offense. That's exactly what the New York Jets did earlier today when they were whipped in every phase of the game by the 49ers, losing by a score of 34-0. There's two big story lines in this game for the Jets. Their defense was awful once again this week. It's difficult...

Tim Tebow publicly stands by Mark Sanchez

Regardless of what might be said at the moment it appears like we are inching closer to Tebow Time in New York. The Jets backup quarterback is not taking the bait in regards to throwing current starter Mark Sanchez under the bus. Please Click This Link To Read This Story

Mark Sanchez’s most frightening statistic

I’m moving on from Revis. It sucks. They can’t replace him. We know that. Everyone knows it. Sh*t happens. Fine. Done. And, yes, the Jets receiving “corps” looks more like a collection of guys playing a pick-up game than any capable band of brothers. Still, this team is 2-1. It’s been a whacky beginning of the season. Nobody has looked unbeatable. You’re playing at home...

Jets have no choice but to start Mark Sanchez

Even though quarterback Mark Sanchez has looked horrible over the past few weeks, the New York Jets don’t have a choice but to keep him as their starter after giving him a hefty contract extension this past offseason that will pay over $3.2 million this season, and $8.2 million next season.  He’s also slated to receive more than $8 million in bonus money over the next two seasons...

Is it time for a “Sanchez-ometer” in New York?

Tim Tebow threw his first pass of the year yesterday, a week later than I predicted.  Surprisingly he was able to complete it, leaving his success rate for the season at a very impressive 100%.  Unfortunately the 1-1 performance didn’t do much for his career completion percentage (aka the Tebometer), which is still only 47.5%. But the Jets backup QB can take solace in the fact...

FN Follies: It's Decision Time For Jets - Mark Sanchez or Tim Tebow?

In Week 4, the NFL reached an agreement with its referees and ended its long, national nightmare (a.k.a. replacement refs). With that fiasco over, the media is now able to focus on an old favorite: Tim Tebow. After suffering a humiliating 34-0 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, the the New York Jets are reeling. To make matters worse, wide receiver Santonio Holmes suffered...

Woody Johnson could push for Tim Tebow to start

Right after the New York Jets traded for quarterback Tim Tebow this past offseason, owner Woody Johnson was adamant that Mark Sanchez is their starting quarterback going forward. “I’m going to be very clear: Mark Sanchez is our starting quarterback. Period,” Johnson said at the time, per ESPNNewYork.com1. “That’s it. He’s our starting quarterback.” During Johnson...

Ryan says Sanchez our guy, Holmes ruled out for week 5

New York Jets’ coach Rex Ryan reiterated during a Monday press conference that Mark Sanchez is their quarterback. “He’s definitely our guy,” Ryan insisted. “I know this is killing him. He’s going to want to respond.” Many fans have been talking about Tim Tebow, thinking his time is coming since [...]

Santonio Holmes done for season with Lisfranc injury

Things keep getting worse for the New York Jets. First, Darrelle Revis, arguably the league's best CB goes down and is done for the season. Then they get absolutely beat down by the 49ers on Sunday, and now they learn that receiver Santonio Holmes will be out for the rest of the season, not a few weeks as many thought. Although is was floated around as a possibility, no one...

The Tuesday Muse, Week 4: Things Are Heating Up in the Meadowlands, and other happenings

After Mark Sanchez’s poor showing against the 49ers on Sunday, the Tebow Watch has officially started.  Gary Myers would like to give Sanchez until Halloween to fix things, while Peter King thinks Sanchez will last a couple more weeks.  Kevin Kernan wants to start Tebow now, as does Vinnie Iyer, and Michael Tomaso thinks that the Jets actually stuck with Sanchez in Sunday’s...

Report: Santonio Holmes '99-Percent Likely Out For Season' Which Further Weakens Wide Receiver Depth

Fans may be clamoring for Tim Tebow to start at quarterback over Mark Sanchez, but the Jets may need him at wide receiver. Jason Cole from Yahoo Sports tweeted that Santonio Holmes has a lisfranc injury on his foot and that he's "99-percent likely out for the season." Jets WR S. Holmes has a lisfranc injury to his left foot. Still unclear if it's broken, but is...

Wanted: A QB Who Can Throw Football, If Found Call New York Jets

The New York Jets had goals for the 2012 season.  We wanted to challenge the Patriots and bring New York Football back from Big Blue to Gang Green. Mark Sanchez was supposed to breakout this year.  He was going to become the next Peyton Manning.  As of right now, none of those goals are going to happen.First of all let me just make something perfectly clear.  Tim Tebow should...
