Slick. Very slick.
If you appreciate a good arm twisting and not-so-subtle pressure, you've got to love how the Minnesota Vikings owners and some high-level politicians are handling the latest stadium proposal.
They're calling it the "People's Stadium" and practically shouting from rooftops that construction of a new stadium on the Metrodome site will create about 13,000 jobs.
The cherry on top is the boast that no general-fund tax dollars will be used so that, as one politically savvy state senator noted, no money will be stripped away from schools and nursing homes.
This proposal still needs legislative approval and an official blessing from Minneapolis city officials, but come on. Who would dare say no to something being called the "People's Stadium" and the creation of 13,000 jobs while keeping our schoolchildren and elderly out of financial peril?
You'd be accused of being either un-American or under the influence or, worse yet, a Green Bay Packers fan.
