PLAYERS: Roger Goodell
TEAMS: Miami Dolphins
A stadium that is still under construction is one of two finalists to play host to the 50th Super Bowl. The San Francisco 49ers' new facility in Santa Clara, Calif., will compete with Sun Life Stadium near Miami for the 2016 Super Bowl. The loser of that bid will compete with Reliant Stadium in Houston for the 2017 Super Bowl. The 49ers' inclusion is a nod to the team's efforts to find a replacement for aging Candlestick Park. "We've been working for a long time to get a new stadium built in California," commissioner Roger Goodell said, according to the San Jose Mercury News. Construction in Santa Clara began in April, and the stadium is due to open for the 49ers' 2014 season. The Mercury News reported that San Francisco would be the host of most of the Super Bowl week activities, should the 49ers win a Super Bowl bid, even though the game would be played 45 miles southeast, near San Jose. The San Francisco Bay Area played host to one previous...

Report: Dolphins pursuing trade for Dwayne Bowe

The Miami Dolphins are actively pursuing a trade for Chiefs side receiver Dwayne Bowe, according to reports. The Dolphins receiving corps has been thin since the Dolphins traded away Brandon Marshall for two 3rd round picks back in March. The Dolphins have relied mainly on Davone Bess and Brian Hartline this season, but neither appears to be a true #1 receiver.Hartline has had...

The Stop and Go: The Week of Rest

Ryan Tannehill produced the first multi pass touchdown game of his career and Brian Hartline registered a drop and zero catches; that’s as far as I go about Sunday’s win against the Rams.  As we enter the bye week I would like to recap what have been a tumultuous first six weeks of the season.  Since the Dolphins are on bye, the traditional Stop and Go format will take a back...

The No-Names Return for the Miami Dolphins

The 3-3 Miami Dolphins are a 500 team for the first time since December 19, 2010. The Dolphins were 7-7 prior to finishing the 2010 season 7-9 and beginning 2011 with seven straight losses. Three... Despite strong start, the Dolphins have work to do during the bye week

500 %, while some fans will complain that this team could be 5-1 at the bye the fact is that they are not. There is still plenty to be happy about with the Dolphins 3-3 record. The Dolphins are starting to come together, the defense is playing at a very high level, and Ryan Tannehill’s passer rating has now gone up in t 3 consecutive games and the Dolphins are coming off back to...

Ryan Tannehill's Development Has Been Wonderfully Handled

I feel like I can say the following statement about Miami Dolphins rookie QB Ryan Tannehill with absolute confidence, and I doubt that I will get much resistance to it: Ryan Tannehill will be a... Dolphins defense showcases their sack dance

DAVIE, Fla. It might be a bye week for the Miami Dolphins. But Olivier Vernon has some work to do. Im going to go in the lab and come up with a sack dance, said the rookie defensive end from the University of Miami. Yes, this is important stuff in the NFL. If youre a guy who gets to the quarterback with any degree of regularity, you better have a dance to go with it. Vernon entered...

Daniel Thomas Cleared For Contact

Miami running back Daniel Thomas (concussions) says he has been cleared for contact, according to a report from Ben Volin of the Palm Beach Post.Fantasy Spin:Thomas has suffered two concussions this season so this seems ahead of schedule, but we will take his word for it. Both Reggie Bush and Lamar Miller were ineffective against the Rams' suspect run defense and the Dolphins...

Expect the Dolphins to work on a game plan to get the running back the ball more during the bye

Last week the Miami Dolphins went away from the win and put all the weight on their rookie quarterback’s shoulders. Although Ryan Tannehill did enough to get the win, they cannot keep doing this. Joe Philbin realizes they will need to get a running back more involved.“I think we’ve played better,” Dolphins coach Joe Philbin said. “I think that’s what the film tells you...

Dolphins show knack for winning close games

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- Calling for a fake punt with four minutes left is risky stuff from a rookie coach, especially one as even-keel as Joe Philbin. The Miami Dolphins coach concedes Las Vegas isn't for him. He does play the odds though, which paid off in Miami's 17-14 win Sunday over the St. Louis Rams. A successful fake punt was one of several key plays by the Dolphins down...

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Calling for a fake punt with four minutes left is risky stuff from a rookie coach, especially one as even-keel as Joe Philbin. The Miami Dolphins coach concedes Las Vegas isn't for him. ''I work too hard for my money,'' Philbin said. "I'm not a gambler."
