Schaub completed 11 of 14 passes for 128 yards in two quarters, looking sharp in his second game since fracturing his right foot in Week 10 last season. The 5-foot-5 Holliday, who returned a kickoff 90 yards for a score in the Texans' preseason opener, scored in the fourth quarter. The Texans (No. 6 in the AP Pro32) held the 49ers to 267 yards and 13 first downs. Alex Smith completed 5 of 9 passes for 49 yards for the 49ers (No. 4). Matt Schaub On Target in Saturday Night Action

Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub looked very good in the team's preseason game Saturday against the 49ers, completing 11-of-14 for 128 yards and a touchdown. Fantasy Spin: Schaub is an injury risk but if he plays a full season like he did in 2009 and 2010 hes a near-lock to post top-10 quarterback numbers, even if the Texans are likely to favor the running game.

Case Keenum impressing Texans coaches

Undrafted free agent Case Keenum is making a strong impression in Houston Texans camp. The undersized quarterback may be a long shot to make the roster but, according to the Houston Chronicle, head coach Gary Kubiak has been impressed with his performance thus far. Kubiak told reporters, “Guys kind of gravitate to him. We’ve got guys from all over this country trying to make...

The Rundown: Texans vs. 49ers

The second preseason game is in the books and the Houston Texans came out with a win over the San Francisco 49ers, 20-9. As always, there was plenty news and notes from the game and some players making some noise to stay with the Texans into week 1. Game two of the preseason has helped separate some players from others and let fans get a better idea on how the coaches and front...

Arian Foster cuts bedtime story short in new Monday Night Football commercial (Video)

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster cuts a bedtime story short so he can watch Monday Night Football in a new ESPN commercial. As the commercial cuts to a young girl's bedroom, Foster reads "And the princess says 'Never Mind', and that's the end." before quickly closing the book and shutting off the light. Naturally the young girl feels cheated...

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: 49ers Edition

The Houston Texans opened their preseason home debut against the San Francisco 49ers which was considered a good barometer to see where they are in terms of progress this year. The 49ers are a big physical team with the same offensive philosophy as the Texans as a run heavy team, and a team that runs a stout 3-4 defense ranking ahead of the Texans against the run. This was one...

Breaking Down the Duane Brown Extension With the Texans

One of the things that the Texans front office has been leaking to the press for close to a year now was that they wanted to come to an agreement on a extension with franchise left tackle Duane Brown before he entered the final season of his current deal. As it turns out, they were telling the truth. In a season that saw Brown get a pro bowl snub after allowing only 2 sacks for...

Houston Texans: Is 2012 A Super Bowl-Or-Bust Season?

After attaining their first-ever playoff appearance and postseason victory in franchise history last season, the Houston Texans enter 2012 already as a popular pick among many pundits to make the trip to the big stage in New Orleans. “I think it’s Super Bowl or bust for them,” NFL Network’s Albert Breer said late last week on SportsRadio 610.  ”I asked Andre Johnson...

Could Trindon Holliday Really Make the Texans Final Roster?

When the Houston Texans picked up LSU return specialist in the tail end of the 2010 NFL Draft, many chuckled, yours truly included. Sure, there have been small guys to play in this league, but at just 5’5″, no one thought this guy had much of a chance other than to be a training camp laugh. With the way his pro career started, it seemed those claims were validated, as he fumbled...

NFL Preseason: San Francisco 49ers vs. Houston Texans

This would be a dream matchup if only it weren't a preseason game. The San Francisco 49ers and Houston Texans represent the two most complete teams in the NFL. The similarities between them stretch from their solid run game, to their effective-yet-underrated quarterbacks, to two of the best run defenses in the league. This would be a dream Super Bow for many - especially in...

Houston Texans: Super Bowl Contenders

Coming off of the franchise’s first playoff berth since the team joined the NFL in 2002, the Houston Texans have several reasons to believe that last year’s success was the start of something special. The naysayers said they would never reach the postseason, the critics insisted last season was over once Matt Schaub went down in Week 10, and the analysts had lost hope due to...

Texans 20, 49ers 9

Matt Schaub looked much sharper in Houston's second preseason game. Trindon Holliday looked as electrifying as he did in the opener. Schaub threw a touchdown pass to Lestar Jean, Holliday returned a punt for another score and Houston's defense stifled San Francisco in the Texans' 20-9 win over the 49ers on Saturday night. Schaub completed 11 of 14 passes for 128 yards...
