Pro Football Zone:
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Chicago Bears and running back Matt Forte should get a new deal done by July 16th.
If a contract is agreed upon by July 16th, I think it would be because of Forte caving in to the Bears’ demands to some degree. He doesn’t have much leverage after stating that he’ll play this season.
If a new contract isn’t agreed upon by then, Forte will be forced to play the 2012 season under the franchise tag.

Adam Schefter of ESPN believes running back Matt Forte will sign a contract extension with the Chicago Bears before July 16.
July 16 is significant because that is the deadline players that were designated with the franchise tag (like Forte) have to sign an extension. And if Forte does get the long-term deal that he covets, then that eliminates the risk of him being a holdout.

Matt Forte's stock in mock drafts has taken a little bit of hit with the possibility of holdout looming over him. Adam Schefter had some good news (or good speculation as it were) for Forte owners. The NFL insider thinks the Bears will loosen the purse strings by the July 16th deadline whereby teams can extend players they have slapped with the franchise tag.
The culture of contract disputes used to viewed as a poisonous set-of-circumstances that happened only every now and then.
With the maturation of the CBA and the rules of free agency, it has become such a part of the game that there is not only one but there are several ongoing issues between players and management.
Here’s the top five that stand to sting their respective franchises...
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was asked which NFL wide receivers could have a break out season in 2012 and one of the players he mentioned is Denarius Moore of the Oakland Raiders.
“I think Denarius Moore has a chance to shine in Oakland and become a big-time wide receiver.,” wrote Schefter.
As a rookie last season, Moore put up some impressive numbers with 33 receptions...

To add to...
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Oakland Raiders are still interested in free agent running back Cedric Benson.
“They’re still interested in signing Cedric Benson. Cedric Benson is still on the Raiders’ radar,” said Schefter, per Evan Silva.
Not sure what the Raiders are waiting for. They just might be unwilling to pay Benson whatever he’s asking for.
