Many were surprised on Wednesday when the trade between the Detroit Lions and Philadelphia Eagles fell through due to Jerome Harrison failing his physical with the Eagles.

But according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Harrison might not have even gotten as far as the physical.

Schefter is reporting that Philadelphia doctors found a brain tumor on Harrison, which is the reason behind the voided trade. He is also reporting that Harrison never got the complete physical because of the doctors discovery.

This report has not yet been confirmed by the Eagles or Harrison, and it's hard to imagine it will be. The Eagles were very tight lipped about Jeremy Maclin's health situation in the off season, and if the report is true about Harrison, this is a very similar situation.

Schefter makes an excellent point: without the trade, doctors may have never found the tumor.

Which means in a round about way, the trade that never actually happened could have saved his life.
