ESPN’s Adam Schefter has reported that the Chris Johnson holdout could continue for longer than expected, as the star running back wants more than to be the highest paid running back in league history.
The Titans made a claim earlier in the week that they would make Chris Johnson the highest paid running back in the history of the NFL, Johnson however, wants to be paid like the top playmakers.
Currently, Adrian Peterson of the Vikings is the highest paid running back at 10.7 million. Running backs have never been paid quite the money that is seen from other positions.
It was reported that the Titans would offer him a contract making him the highest paid running back in the league, but Johnson is claiming that he still hasn’t heard from the team.
“Maybe they talked, but I guarantee we never received any offer,” Johnson told The Tennessean.
It looks like the Titans and Johnson are at more of a stalemate than orginially anticipated. The Titans need to get Johnson in camp, and that starts by making an initial offer.
