Back-up quarterback Scott Tolzien was among five players waived by the 49ers on Monday. Here’s how it went down:
OK, you got me. That’s not how it really went down because Scott Tolzien isn’t a British dude named Tim. Unless Tolzien has some previous former life as an international spy for MI6 he’s not telling anybody about.
But the clip still applies because he was arguably the weakest link in the Niners back-up quarterback race after two uninspiring preseason outings. And if he wasn’t the weakest link, then he certainly was the odd man out after not playing or practicing due to “injury” all week and Colt McCoy was named the primary back-up and the team signed Seneca Wallace.
Tolzien does still qualify for the practice squad if no other team smokes a bunch of drugs and picks up him up.
The Niners are now at 84 players after trading Parys Haralson Monday evening. They need to lose nine more players before Tuesday afternoon.
