Seahawks make surprising cut
There weren't too many surprising moves during the roster cut-downs, but the Seahawks did surprise people with a release.
Is Kellen Winslow Jr’s career over with his release from the Seahawks?
Kellen Winslow Jr thought his trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this past off-season to the Seattle Seahawks would be a chance to restart his career in an offense more suited for his skills.Â
Well that plan was derailed before it even got started, as the Seahawks released the 8-year veteran tight end in a cost cutting move. The release saved the team $3.3 million, which...
Seahawks keep Braylon Edwards in final cuts
Braylon Edwards made the Seahawks' 53-man roster, with the team waiving former draft picks Deon Butler and Kris Durham amid a flurry of moves to reach Friday's roster limit. Charly Martin also made the receiving corps for now, with promising speedster Ricardo Lockette let go. Among the notable names of players waived was quarterback Josh Portis, meaning the team will...

These moves were made today in addition to the Seahawks cutting ties with Kellen Winslow Jr.

Seahawks cut former fourth-round WR Durham
Wide receiver Kris Durham, a fourth-round pick in 2011 who has struggled with injuries, was among the Seahawks' roster cuts down to Friday's 75-player limit, according to The Seattle Times. Durham had three catches as a rookie before landing on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. He has been struggling to stay on the field this preseason as well, and was expected to...

Red Bryant chipped tooth celebrating the safety vs. Raiders
Big Red Bryant is a beast of a man. He can't jump to high. Today I bet he's wishing he could jump just a couple inches higher though.
HE chipped his tooth last night jumping, no wait, head-butting Jaye Howard after his 4th qtr safety.
Howard got the end zone sack for a safety to slap an exclamation point on the final quarter. It was a hell of a play.
He then ran...
Kellen Winslow released by Seahawks
This year’s cut-down period for NFL teams featured very few surprises. Until now. The Seahawks released tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. on Saturday, as first reported by Adam Schefter.
Winslow clashed with new Buccaneers head coach Greg Schiano and was traded to the Seahawks after not showing up to OTAs. Seattle offered a 7th-round pick for Winslow when most other teams wouldn’t...

In May, Kellen Winslow called the trade that sent him from Tampa Bay to Seattle the “perfect fit“. The Seahawks apparently did not agree as ProFootballTalk has confirmed that the Seahawks will be releasing the veteran tight end.

Seattle Seahawks Cut Day Questions
By 6PM Friday, all NFL teams need to cut down to a roster of 53 players. This means that NFL teams have to cut 22 players from their current 75-man roster. At first, 53 doesn’t seem like a very small number; there are only 22 people on the field at any one time. It would seem that a roster size of more than twice the number of people on the field would allow teams to have all the...

Seahawks 21, Raiders 3
Rookie quarterback Russell Wilson played just one quarter in his final tuneup before the regular season, so high-priced backup Matt Flynn led Seattle on a three scoring drives. The Seahawks closed out the second perfect preseason in franchise history with a 21-3 win over the Oakland Raiders on Thursday night.
Wilson saw limited action just days after winning the quarterback competition...
Seahawks roster update: 2012 Practice squad additions

The Practice Squad Explained - Each NFL team can establish an eight-player practice squad, by signing free agents who don’t have an accrued season of free-agency credit or who were on the 46-player active list for less than nine regular-season games during each of any accrued seasons. Drafted,Traded,Now Cut Deion Branch No Longer A Patriot
The New England Patriots parted ways with Deion Branch when they trimmed the teams roster down to 53 yesterday. Branch who was drafted by the team in 2002 then traded to the Seahawks for very little in 2006 only to return to the Patriots after five seasons with Seattle has finally seen his career in a Patriots uniform come to an end. It happens to the best of them, they get older...
