Pro Football Zone:
The Seattle Seahawks have beat the San Diego Chargers 31-10 in their first preseason game.
In a game that ultimately means nothing at the end of the season, there was some good things to take away from this game. Philip Rivers finally looked comfortable in an improved offensive line. Unfortunately for the Chargers, there isn’t much depth behind the starting five offensive linemen. There was a clear gap in skill between the 1st and 2nd team offensive line for the team. Seattle’s front seven man-handled the Chargers’ line the whole game.
On the other hand, the Chargers front seven looked strong. With Manti Te’o joining an already solid defensive front, Chargers future looks bright at least up front.
The Seahawks, who are considered to be the deepest team in the NFL, dismantled the Chargers’ 2nd, 3rd, and 4th teams 31-7. Also the Seahawks’ kick coverage was outstanding. The Chargers best starting spot in the second half was the 20-yard line.
We’ll wait until tomorrow to confirm but it looks like both teams escaped without any injury to important players, which is one of the goals of all teams during the preseason.

Via the U-T San Diego’s Michael Gehlken, running back Danny Woodhead and and cornerback/fill-in strong safety Marcus Gilchrist will also miss San Diego Chargers’ preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks. Gilchrist will be sitting out due to a hamstring issue and will be replaced in the game by Darrell Stuckey. Woodhead has been held out of practice since Friday with an unknown...
Seattle Seahawks RB Christine Michaels has been making a lot of noise at training camp, and coach Pete Carroll and his staff wanted to put him to the test. Michael got his share of touches in Seattle’s 31-10 win over the San Diego Chargers.
Seahawks have released wide receiver Early Doucet after he struggled with an
injury in his first practice with the team, according to Darin Gantt of NBC Sports. The team stated that their reason for releasing Doucet so soon after
acquiring him is because he “failed to disclose a physical injury” prior to
signing his contract. It is currently unknown what that injury...
The Glory Hogs
Yada Yada Percy Harvin‘s hurt yada yada. Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, where was I?
Ah yes, the Seattle Seahawks wide receivers that will be healthy from week 1 forward and their projected stats lines.
They may not have the flashy big play ability of Harvin for the majority of the season (and potentially longer), but there are no shortage of stars in...
The San Diego Chargers have placed undrafted rookie linebacker Devan Walker on injured-reserve with a knee injury, the team announced on Wednesday afternoon.
If it’s anything like the other three Chargers’ playerss who’ve had “knee injuries” then that probably means he tore his ACL. The Chargers also lost Melvin Ingram and Jonas Mouton to knee injuries. The team also lost...
King Dunlap or Max Starks?
One of the veteran newcomers will become the San Diego Chargers' left tackle, charged with protecting Philip Rivers' blind side.
Dunlap, signed as a free agent from the Philadelphia Eagles, has gotten the majority of snaps with the first team so far in training camp.
Starks hasn't been given the inside track even though he won two Super Bowl...
Let There be Depth!
I don’t care that for the most part I was watching second and third string players. I don’t care that this game meant absolutely nothing. It was Seattle Seahawks football, and for the first time in over six months it graced the screen of my dirty, dust-covered television.
The Seahawks kicked off their preseason last night with a week 1 romping...
Danario Alexander flashed signs of brilliance last season and emerged as one of the top mid-season fantasy free agent acquisitions after catching 7 touchdowns in just 10 games with the Chargers.
His breakout performance in 2012 made Alexander a viable number two fantasy wide receiver in drafts this season and a favorite of many to be one of the top breakout WR’s of the draft.
Fight To The Death
Going into the week one preseason match up between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Diego Chargers, an important position battle is on the line that has gotten very little media play.
What happens if Russell Wilson goes down?
For a team with Super Bowl aspirations, and an offensive attack that can lead to a few hits on the franchise quarterback, the need to have...
When Manti Te’o was taken in the first round of the draft, it was a surprise to everyone. Between his situations with the mysterious, phantom girlfriend coupled with his weak performance at the BCS Championship game, it seemed that Te’o’s draft stock had plummeted. There’s always a team that’s willing to take a chance, and the San Diego Chargers were just that team.
Earlier this week I dropped my Fantasy Forecast for the NFC East, and today we move onto the NFC West. This division is going to be known more for its defense than its offense as it houses two of the top defensive teams in the league in the Seahawks and the 49ers. The Rams and the Cardinals are moving up in defensive talent as well, and don’t forget that they bottomed out the top...

The title of this article may seem ludicrous to some of you, but hang in there and let me explain the eerie similarities between the two clubs. Image: USATSI
