Chris Clemons was one of only a few players to hold out of his team’s mandatory minicamp last month and he was fined for doing so. He did so because he wanted a new contract, as he heads into a contract year, but, even though he has yet to receive one, a Seahawks insider talks Pro Football Weekly that Clemons will be there for the start of Training Camp with or without a new deal. This might sound a little surprising, but perhaps Clemons has realized that the Seahawks won’t be giving him an extension or he’s decided to put this season ahead of his own financial interests. Since arriving to the Seahawks as a nondescript player before the 2010 season, Clemons has been one of the best defensive ends in the league, Clemons had 24 sacks, 18 quarterback hits, and 97 quarterback pressures over the last 2 seasons. However, heading into his age 31 season and with no success outside of Seattle’s system, they are not interested in giving Clemons the Cameron Wake money (4 year, 49 million), he’...

Clemons Situation Threatens To Derail Seahawks’ Progress

Northwest Sports Update As you’re reading sportsbook reviews (find more here) to find a new book for the NFL season, you may be thinking of Seattle’s chances in the NFC West and even though they’re well behind San Francisco, they need all hands on deck to mount a serious challenge. However, their most disruptive defensive player could be on the cusp of a holdout and that...

Seahawks’ Mike Williams, Deon Butler, will likely fight for a roster spot

Getty Images Danny O’Neil of The Seattle Times believes that both Mike Williams and Deon Butler will have to fight to make the Seahawks’ final 53-man roster. With the Seahawks going into camp with 13 wide receivers, O’Neil believes the only locks to make the roster are Golden Tate, Sidney Rice and Doug Baldwin, who are clearly their top three receivers going into the season...

Matt Flynn and Doug Baldwin are making the right connections

Doug Baldwin barely made it into the NFL in 2011. As an undrafted free agent he signed with the Seattle Seahawks, and then became their leading receiver. Building on that momentum, Baldwin started working out with the guy who could make or break his sophomore year, Matt Flynn. The two met in Pensacola Florida this week to start getting their timing down. Baldwin who will face...

Marcus Trufant has a new role with the Seahawks

Getty Images According to ProFootballWeekly.com, the belief in Seattle is that veteran cornerback Marcus Trufant will be a great fit as the Seahawks’ nickel-back this coming season. “This is good for him, since he won’t have to turn and run downfield as much and can keep plays in front of him,” said one team source, per PFW. Trufant is still a talented player even though...

Matt Flynn, Doug Baldwin building a bond

Getty Images Seattle Seahawks quarterback Matt Flynn and wide receiver Doug Baldwin recently met up in Miami to work out together.  Flynn sees something special in Baldwin who had a break out season in 2011 as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Stanford. “Last year, Doug being undrafted, obviously, I’m sure he had something to prove coming in, a chip on his shoulder, and...

Border Battle: The CFL’s B.C. Lions vs. the NFL’s Seahawks

CFL vs. NFL No it’s not quite the level of the Lion vs the Tuna but still thought about taking a fun compare and contrast look at the two North West football teams. While I may be one of the few that would be man enough to say that I prefer to watch the BC Lions games over a Seattle Seahawks game, it may just be the homer in me coming out. Don’t get me wrong, I do enjoy my...
