Months of rumor became reality on Tuesday as the Seahawks finally acquired RB Marshawn Lynch from the Bills in exchange for a fourth round pick in next April’s draft and an undisclosed choice in 2012.
A two-time 1,000-yard rusher, Lynch became the odd man out in Buffalo as head coach Chan Gailey favored the combination of Fred Jackson and rookie C.J. Spiller. Lynch had 164 yards on 37 carries this season, but had only four attempts in last Sunday’s loss to the New York Jets.
The Seahawks and Bills had been discussing the possibility of a trade for the the fourth-year back from California since shortly after last April’s draft. Talks had appeared to be at a standstill until the Philadelphia Eagles began inquiring about Lynch late Monday afternoon, triggering Seattle to finally move forward with the deal.
